King James Version
1 Chronicles • Chapter 20
1
And it was at the time of the return of the year, at the time when the kings go out, and Joab led the army and destroyed the land of the Ammonites, and he came and besieged Rabbah, while David remained in Jerusalem, and Joab struck Rabbah and destroyed it.
2
And David took the crown of the king from his head, and he found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there was a precious stone in it; and it was on David's head. And he brought out a great deal of plunder from the city.
3
And he brought out the people who were in it, and he set them to work with saws and iron tools and with axes. And thus David did to all the cities of the Ammonites. And David returned and all the people to Jerusalem.
4
And it happened afterward that there was a battle in Gezer with the Philistines. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite struck down Sippai, one of the descendants of the giants, and they were subdued.
5
And there was yet another battle with the Philistines, and Elhanan the son of Jair struck down Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite; and the staff of his spear was like a weaver's beam.
6
And there was still war in Gath, and there was a man of stature, and his fingers were six and six and twenty and four, and he also was born to the giants.
7
And Jonathan the son of Shimeah, David's brother, struck him, and he cursed Israel.
8
To God, they were born to heal in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
