King James Version

1 Corinthians • Chapter 1

1 Paul, called apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Sosthenes the brother. 2 To the church of God, the ones sanctified in Christ Jesus, the one being in Corinth, called to be saints, with all those calling upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place of theirs and ours. 3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I thank my God always for you because of the Grace of God given to you in Christ Jesus. 5 because in every way you were enriched in him, in every word and all knowledge, 6 as the testimony of Christ was confirmed among you, 7 so that you may not be lacking in any gift, eagerly awaiting the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ; 8 He will also confirm you blameless until the end on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 10 Now I urge you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in the same mind and in the same judgment. 11 For it has been made known to me about you, my brothers, by Chloe's people, that there are quarrels among you. 12 But I say this, that each of you says: "I am of Paul," "I am of Apollos," "I am of Cephas," "I am of Christ." 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you, or were you baptized in the name of Paul? 14 I give thanks that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius. 15 So that no one may say that you were baptized in my name. 16 I baptized also the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know if I baptized anyone else. 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ be made of no effect. 18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God. 19 For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the understanding of the understanding ones I will bring to nothing. 20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe. 22 For Jews ask for signs and Greeks seek wisdom. 23 But we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles. 24 But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For you see your calling, brothers, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 And God chose the base things of the world and the despised things, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are. 29 So that no flesh may boast before God. 30 But from Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and Sanctification and Redemption. 31 So that, as it is written: Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.
