King James Version

1 Corinthians • Chapter 15

1 I make known to you, brothers, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which you also stand. 2 By which also you are being saved, through what word I preached to you, if you hold fast, unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you, as of first importance, what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures, 5 And that he was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 Then he was seen by more than five hundred brothers at once, of whom the majority remain until now, but some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he was seen by Jacob, and then by all the apostles. 8 But last of all, as if to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 By the Grace of God, I am what I am, and his Grace that was bestowed upon me was not in vain, but I labored more abundantly than them all, yet not I, but the Grace of God that was with me. 11 Whether then it is I or they, so we preach and so you believed. 12 But if Christ is proclaimed that he has been raised from the dead, how do some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then neither has Christ been raised. 14 But if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, and your faith is in vain. 15 But we are also found to be false witnesses of God, because we have testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, neither has Christ been raised. 17 But if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Therefore, even those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If we have hope in Christ only in this life, we are of all men most pitiable. 20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since through man came death, also through man comes the resurrection of the dead. 22 For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then those who belong to Christ at his coming. 24 Then the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God and the Father, when he abolishes all rule and all authority and power, 25 For it is necessary for him to reign until he puts all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. 27 For he has subjected all things under his feet. But when he says that all things are subjected, it is evident that he is excepted who subjected all things to him. 28 But when all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to the one who subjected all things to him, so that God may be all in all. 29 For what will those who are baptized for the dead do? If the dead are not raised at all, why are they baptized for them? 30 What, are we in danger at every hour? 31 I die every day, by the boast I have in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord. 32 If I fought beasts at Ephesus according to man, what is my profit? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die. 33 Do not be deceived; bad company corrupts good morals. 34 Awake righteously and do not sin, for some have ignorance of God; I speak this to your shame. 35 But someone will say: How are the dead raised, and with what body do they come? 36 Fool, what you sow will not come to life unless it dies. 37 And what you sow is not the body that will be, but a bare seed, if perhaps it should be of wheat or of some of the rest. 38 But God gives each one a body as he has chosen, and to each of the seeds its own body. 39 Not all flesh is the same flesh, but one flesh of humans, another flesh of animals, another flesh of birds, another flesh of fish. 40 And there are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies; but the glory of the heavenly is different, and the glory of the earthly is different. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another in glory. 42 Thus also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. 43 It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 Thus it is written: The first man Adam became a living soul; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 But not first the spiritual, but the natural; then the spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, made of dust; the second man is from heaven. 48 As is the earthly, so also are the earthly; and as is the heavenly, so also are the heavenly. 49 And just as we have borne the image of the earthly, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 50 And I say this, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on imperishability, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 54 When this corruptible puts on incorruption and this mortal puts on immortality, then will come to pass the saying that is written: Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 Where is your victory, O death? Where is your sting, O death? 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But to God be thanks, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
