King James Version
1 Peter • Chapter 5
1
So I exhort the elders among you, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is to be revealed.
2
Tend the flock of God that is among you, overseeing not by compulsion but willingly according to God, nor for dishonest gain but eagerly,
3
nor as exercising lordship over the inheritances, but being examples to the flock.
4
And when the chief shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.
5
Likewise, younger ones, be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God resists the proud but gives Grace to the humble.
6
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time.
7
Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.
8
Be sober, be vigilant. Your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
9
To whom you resist, standing firm in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brotherhood in the world.
10
But the God of all Grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little.
11
To him be the power forever and ever. Amen.
12
Through Silvanus, your faithful brother, as I consider, I have written to you briefly, urging and testifying that this is the true Grace of God; in it you stand.
13
"The chosen one in Babylon greets you, and Mark my son."
14
Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with you all in Christ.
