King James Version
2 Chronicles • Chapter 1
1
And Solomon, son of David, strengthened himself over his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and he exalted him greatly.
2
And Solomon said to all Israel, to the leaders of the thousands and the hundreds, and to the judges, and to all the heads of the families of Israel.
3
And Solomon went, and all the assembly with him, to the high place which was at Gibeon, for there was the tent of meeting of God, which Moses, the servant of the Lord, had made in the wilderness.
4
But the Ark of God David brought up from Kiriath-Jearim, for he had prepared a tent for it in Jerusalem.
5
And the bronze altar which Bezalel the son of Uri the son of Hur made was set before the dwelling of the Lord, and Solomon and the congregation sought it.
6
And Solomon went up there to the altar of bronze before the LORD, which was at the tent of meeting, and he offered up a thousand burnt offerings on it.
7
That night, God appeared to Solomon and said to him, "Ask what I shall give you."
8
And Solomon said to God, "You have shown great kindness to my father David, and now you have made me king in his place."
9
Now, O Lord God, let Your word be confirmed with David my father, for You have made me king over a great people like the dust of the earth.
10
Now give me wisdom and knowledge that I may go out before this people, for who can judge this great people of yours?
11
And God said to Solomon, "Because this was in your heart, and you did not ask for wealth, riches, or honor, nor for the life of those who hate you, and also for a long life you did not ask, but you asked for yourself wisdom and knowledge that you may judge my people over whom I have made you king."
12
Wisdom and knowledge have been given to you, and wealth and possessions and glory I will give to you, such as has not been for the kings who were before you, and after you there will not be so.
13
And Solomon went to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the Tent of Meeting, and he reigned over Israel.
14
And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen, and he had one thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, and he stationed them in the cities of the chariots and with the king in Jerusalem.
15
And the king gave the silver and the gold in Jerusalem like stones, and he gave the cedar trees like the sycamores that are in the lowland abundantly.
16
And the horses which were for Solomon were brought from Egypt, and the king's merchants brought them from Keveh at a price.
17
And they ascended and brought out of Egypt a chariot of six hundred silver and a horse of fifty and one hundred; and likewise, to all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Aram, by their hand they brought out.
