King James Version
2 Corinthians • Chapter 1
1
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy, our brother, to the church of God that is in Corinth, with all the saints who are in all of Achaia.
2
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort.
4
The one who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those in any affliction through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
5
For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.
6
If we are afflicted, it is for your encouragement and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your encouragement, which is being worked out in the endurance of the same sufferings that we also suffer.
7
And our hope is firm for you, knowing that just as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will be of the comfort.
8
For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, about the affliction we experienced in Asia, that we were burdened beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life.
9
But we ourselves have the answer of death within ourselves, so that we would not be trusting in ourselves but in God who raises the dead.
10
Who has rescued us from such a great death and will rescue us, in whom we have hoped that he will still rescue us.
11
With your joint prayers for us in the supplication, so that the gift coming to us from many may be thanked through many on our behalf.
12
For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in holiness and sincerity from God, not by earthly wisdom but by the Grace of God, and we conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you.
13
For we do not write to you anything other than what you read or even understand, but I hope that you will understand fully until the end.
14
Just as you also recognized us in part, that we are your boast just as you are ours in the day of our Lord Jesus.
15
And with this confidence, I wanted to come to you beforehand, in order that you might have a second Grace.
16
And through you to pass into Macedonia, and again to come from Macedonia to you and to be sent forward by you to Judea.
17
Therefore, wanting this, did I perhaps use lightness? Or do I deliberate according to the flesh, so that my Yes be Yes and my No be No?
18
But faithful is God that our word to you is not Yes and No.
19
For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was proclaimed among you through us, through me and Silvanus and Timothy, was not Yes and No, but in Him it was Yes.
20
For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are Yes; therefore also through Him the Amen to God, for glory through us.
21
And the one who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God.
22
He who has also sealed us and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
23
But I call God as my witness upon my soul, that being concerned for you I no longer came to Corinth.
24
Not that we lord it over your faith, but we are coworkers with you for your joy, for by your faith you stand.
