2 Samuel • Chapter 4
1
And Saul's son heard that Abner had died in Hebron, and his hands were weakened, and all Israel was disturbed.

And there were two men, leaders of bands; the name of one was Ahijah, and the name of the second was Rekhab, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the sons of Benjamin; for even in Beeroth they are counted as Benjamin.

And the dwellers of the wells fled, and there were strangers there until this day.

And Jonathan the son of Saul, the son of a crippled man, was five years old when the news of Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel, and his nurse took him and fled, and it happened that in her haste to flee, he fell and became lame, and his name was Mephibosheth.

And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went and came in the heat of the day to the house of Ish Bosheth, who was lying on his bed at noon.

And they came into the house taking wheat, and they struck him to the wall, and the brother of the rider escaped.

And they came into the house, and he was lying on his bed in his bedroom, and they struck him and he died, and they removed his head, and they took his head and went the way of the wilderness all that night.

And they brought the head of Ish-bosheth to David at Hebron and said to the king, "Here is the head of Ish-bosheth, the son of Saul, your enemy who sought your life; and the Lord has given my lord the king vengeance this day from Saul and his offspring."

And David answered Rechab and Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, "As surely as the Lord lives, who has redeemed my soul from all distress."
10
For the one who told me to say, "Look, Saul is dead," and he was like a messenger in my eyes, I seized him and killed him at Ziklag, which I appointed for him as a reward.
11
Even though wicked men killed a righteous man in his house upon his bed, now shall I not seek his blood from your hand and I will cut you off from the earth?

And David commanded the young men, and they killed them and cut off their hands and their feet and hung them by the pool in Hebron. And they took the head of Ish-bosheth and buried it in the tomb of Abner in Hebron.
