1 In the third year of King Cyrus of Persia, a word was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; the truth of the word and a great conflict, and he understood the word and had understanding in the vision. 2 In those days, I, Daniel, was mourning for three weeks. 3 I have not eaten bread of delights, and meat and wine have not entered my mouth, and I have not anointed myself until three weeks were fulfilled. 4 And on the twentieth and fourth day of the first month, I was by the great river, which is the Tigris. 5 And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a certain man was clothed in linen, with a belt of fine gold around his waist. 6 And my body is like that of Tarshish, and my face is like the appearance of lightning, and my eyes are like fiery lamps, and my arms and my legs are like polished bronze, and the sound of my words is like the sound of a multitude. 7 And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, but the men who were with me did not see the vision; nevertheless, a great trembling fell upon them, and they fled to hide themselves. 8 And I was left alone, and I saw this great vision, and no strength remained in me, for my glory was turned to destruction upon me, and I had no strength left. 9 And I heard the voice of my words, and when I heard the voice of my words, I was asleep on my face and my face was to the ground. 10 And behold, a hand touched me and stirred me up on my knees and on the palms of my hands. 11 And he said to me, “Daniel, man of precious things, understand the words that I am speaking to you and stand upright, for now I have been sent to you; and when he spoke to me this word, I stood trembling. 12 And he said to me, "Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come because of your words." 13 And the prince of the kingdom of Persia stood opposing me for twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, and I remained there beside the kings of Persia. 14 And I will come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for there is still a vision for the days. 15 And when I spoke with you these words, I gave my face to the earth and I was silent. 16 And behold, like the form of a human being touching my lips, and I opened my mouth and spoke, and I said to the one standing before me, "My lord, in the vision I was turned on my face, and I did not restrain my strength." 17 And how can this servant of my lord speak with this lord, for now there is no strength left in me, and my breath is no longer in me. 18 And he added and touched me like the appearance of a man and strengthened me. 19 And he said, "Do not be afraid, O man of cherished things; peace be to you. Be strong and be strong. And by speaking with me, I was strengthened, and I said, 'My lord has spoken, for you have strengthened me.'" 20 And he said, "Do you know why I have come to you? Now I will return to fight with the prince of Persia, and I am going out, and behold, the prince of Greece has come." 21 But I will tell you the truth that is written, and no one is strengthened with me against these except Michael your chief.
