King James Version

Daniel • Chapter 11

1 And I, in the year one of Darius the Mede, stood to strengthen and to fortify him. 2 And now I will tell you the truth: behold, there are still three kings standing for Persia, and the fourth will make great wealth more than all, and by his strength he will stir up the whole kingdom of Greece. 3 And a mighty king shall stand and he shall rule with great dominion and he shall do according to his desire. 4 And his kingdom will be shattered and divided toward the four winds of heaven, and it will not be as the former kingdom, nor will it be ruled as he ruled, because his kingdom will be plucked up and given to others besides these. 5 And the king of the south will be strong, and from his princes he will be strong against him, and he will rule a great rule. 6 At the end of years they will gather, and the daughter of the king of the south will come to the king of the north to do right, and the power of the arm will not prevail, and it will not stand, and his arm will be given, and those bringing her and her child will hold her at the times. 7 And a shoot will stand from its roots, and he will come to the army and he will come to the stronghold of the north king and he will act against them and will hold fast. 8 And also their gods with their drink offerings, with the vessels of their delights, silver and gold, in the seventh year he will come to Egypt, and he will stand for years from the king of the North. 9 And he came to the kingdom of the king of the south and returned to his land. 10 And his sons will strive and gather many troops, and he will come and overflow and pass through and return; and they will strive and he will strive until the stronghold of his strength. 11 And the king of the South will be stirred up and will go out and fight with him, with the king of the North, and he will raise up a great multitude, and the multitude will be given into his hand. 12 And he will lift up the multitude; he is lofty and proud in heart, and will bring down many, and he will not be strong. 13 And the king of the north will return and will set up a great multitude from the first, and at the end of the times, years will come upon him with a great army and with much wealth. 14 And at times, many will stand against the king of the south, and the sons of the lawless of your people will exult to establish a vision, but they will stumble. 15 And a king of the north will come and will pour out a siege and will capture a fortified city, and the strength of the south will not stand, and my chosen people will have no strength to stand. 16 And the one who comes to me will do as he wishes, and there is no one standing before me, and he will stand in the land of the deer, and all is in his hand. 17 And He will set His face to come with the strength of all His kingdom and will make straight with Him, and to the daughter of women He will give to corrupt her, and she will not stand, and there will not be for Him. 18 And he sat and set his face toward the islands and caught many and he killed a captain of his reproach, and he would not return his reproach to him. 19 And he will turn my face to the strongholds of his land, and he will stumble and fall, and he will not be found. 20 And he shall stand upon his throne, and he will remove the glory of the kingdom, and in a few days it shall be broken, not by anger and not by battle. 21 And he stood on his base, despised, and they did not give glory to me; he came in peace and held the kingdom in complacency. 22 And the floods of his arms will be swept away from before me, and they will be broken, and also the leader of the covenant. 23 And from the association with me, he will act deceitfully and will rise and become a great nation. 24 In quietness and in the fatness of the land he will come and do what my fathers and the fathers of my fathers did not do, in plunder and spoil, and he will divide their wealth, and upon strongholds he will devise my thoughts until the time. 25 And he will awaken his strength and his heart against the king of the south with a great army, and the king of the south will rage against him with a great and mighty army, and he will not stand, for they will think thoughts against him. 26 And those who eat the bread of his will be broken, and his strength will be swept away, and many will fall slain. 27 And the two of them, the kings, will speak lies to one heart on one table, and it will not succeed, for there is still an end for the appointed time. 28 And he will return to his land with great wealth and his heart upon the covenant of holiness, and he will act and return to his land. 29 At the appointed time, he will return and come in the south, and it will not be as the first nor as the last. 30 And they came in ships of Kittim and were broken, and he returned and was angry at the covenant of holiness, and he acted, and he returned and understood about those who forsook the covenant of holiness. 31 And the mighty ones from us shall stand, and they shall profane the sanctuary, the stronghold, and they shall remove the continual offering, and they shall place the abomination of desolation. 32 And those who violate the covenant shall corrupt in the divisions, but the people who know their God shall be strong and act. 33 And the people who understand will be wise to many, and they will stumble by sword and by flame in captivity and in plunder for days. 34 And when they stumble, they will be helped little, and many will join together against them. 35 And from among the wise, they will be stumbled to refine them and to purify and to make them white until the time of the end, for it is still for the appointed time. 36 And he will do his will, the king, and he will be exalted and will be made great above all gods, and he will speak astonishing things against the God of gods, and he will prosper until the wrath is complete; for it has been decreed. 37 And he will not understand the God of my fathers, and he will not understand the desire of women, and he will not understand any god, for he will be great above all. 38 And to the God who is mighty in strength, I will glorify; and to the God whom my fathers did not know, I will glorify with gold and with silver and with precious stones and with desirable things. 39 And he will make for mighty fortresses with a foreign god whom he recognizes; he will honor with great glory, and he will rule over many, and the land he will distribute at a price. 40 At the time of the end, a king of the south will push against him, and a king of the north will storm against him with chariots and with horsemen and with many ships; and he will come into the countries and overflow and pass through. 41 And he came to the land of the gazelle, and many shall stumble, and these shall escape from the hand of Edom and Moab and the first of the children of Ammon. 42 And he will send his hand over the lands, and the land of Egypt will not be a refuge. 43 And a proverb in the treasures of gold and silver and in all the desirable things of Egypt and in the Libyans and Cushites in my march. 44 And they shall be terrified, he from the east and from the north, and a great heat shall go out to destroy and to exterminate many. 45 And he will plant the tents of Appadani between the seas to the mountain of the glory of holiness, and he will come up to its end, and there is no helper for him.
