King James Version

Deuteronomy • Chapter 11

1 And you shall love the LORD your God and you shall keep His charge and His statutes and His judgments and His commandments all the days. 2 And you shall know today that it is not your children who do not know and who have not seen the discipline of the Lord your God, His greatness, His strong hand, and His outstretched arm. 3 And my signs and my deeds which I did in the midst of Egypt for Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and for all his land. 4 And what He did to the army of Egypt, to their horses and to their chariots, when He overwhelmed the waters of the Red Sea upon them as they pursued after you, and the Lord destroyed them until this day. 5 And what he did to you in the desert until you came to this place. 6 And what was done to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben, when the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their houses and their tents and all the living beings that were at their feet in the midst of all Israel. 7 For your eyes see all the great work that the Lord has done. 8 And you shall keep all the commandments that I command you today, so that you may be strong and go in and possess the land that you are crossing over to possess. 9 And in order that you may prolong your days upon the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give to them and to their descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey. 10 For the land to which you are going to possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you came, where you sowed your seed and irrigated it with your foot like a garden of herbs. 11 And the land that you are crossing over to possess is a land of mountains and valleys; from the rain of the heavens you will drink water. 12 A land which the Lord your God seeks always; the eyes of the Lord your God are upon it from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. 13 And it shall be, if you listen diligently to the commandments which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul. 14 And I will give rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, and you will gather your grain and your new wine and your oil. 15 And I will give grass in your field for your animals, and you will eat and be satisfied. 16 Take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be deceived and you turn away and serve other gods and worship them. 17 And the anger of the LORD burned against you, and He closed the heavens so that there would be no rain, and the ground would not give its produce, and you would quickly perish from the good land which the LORD is giving you. 18 And you shall place these words upon your heart and upon your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 19 And you shall teach them to your children to speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. 20 And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. 21 In order that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied upon the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give to them, like the days of the heavens upon the earth. 22 For if you will surely keep all this commandment that I command you to do, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to cling to Him. 23 And the LORD will drive out all these nations from before you, and you will possess nations greater and mightier than yourselves. 24 Every place on which you tread with the sole of your foot will be yours, from the wilderness and the Lebanon, from the river Euphrates and to the great sea in the west will be your boundary. 25 No man shall stand before you in fear and terror; the Lord your God will put the fear and dread of you upon the face of all the earth where you tread, as He has spoken to you. 26 See, I am placing before you today a blessing and a curse. 27 The blessing which you shall heed from the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you today. 28 And the curse if you do not listen to the commandments of the Lord your God and turn aside from the way that I command you today to go after other gods which you have not known. 29 And it will be when the Lord your God brings you to the land that you are entering to possess it, and you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal. 30 Are they not across the Jordan, after the way of the sun, in the land of the Canaanite who lives in the Arabah opposite Gilgal, near the oaks of Moreh? 31 For you are crossing the Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God is giving you, and you shall possess it and dwell in it. 32 And you shall take care to do all the statutes and the judgments which I am giving before you today.
