King James Version
Deuteronomy • Chapter 16
1
Keep the month of Abib and make the Passover to the Lord your God, for in the month of Abib the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt at night.
2
And you shall sacrifice the Passover to the LORD your God, sheep and cattle, in the place that the LORD will choose to make His name dwell there.
3
You shall not eat leavened bread; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, the bread of affliction, because you came out in haste from the land of Egypt, so that you may remember the day of your departure from the land of Egypt all the days of your life.
4
And no leaven shall be seen among you in all your borders for seven days, and none of the flesh which you sacrifice in the evening of the first day shall remain until morning.
5
You shall not be able to sacrifice the Passover within any of your gates that the Lord your God is giving you.
6
But to the place that the LORD your God will choose to make His name dwell there, you shall sacrifice the Passover in the evening, at the time of sunset, the appointed time of your departure from Egypt.
7
And you shall cook and eat in the place that the Lord your God will choose, and you shall turn in the morning and go to your tents.
8
For six days you shall eat matzot, and on the seventh day there shall be a gathering for the Lord your God; you shall not do any work.
9
You shall count seven weeks for yourself; you shall begin to count the seven weeks from the time you begin to put the sickle to the standing grain.
10
And you shall make the Feast of Weeks for the Lord your God from the freewill offering of your hand, which you shall give as the Lord your God blesses you.
11
And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God, you and your son and your daughter, and your male servant and your female servant, and the Levite who is within your gates, and the stranger and the orphan and the widow who are in your midst, in the place which the LORD your God will choose to establish His name there.
12
And you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and you shall observe and do these statutes.
13
The Festival of Tabernacles you shall make for yourself seven days when you gather in from your threshing floor and from your winepress.
14
And you shall rejoice in your festival, you and your son and your daughter and your servant and your maidservant and the Levite and the stranger and the orphan and the widow who are within your gates.
15
For seven days you shall celebrate to the Lord your God in the place that the Lord will choose, because the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, and you shall be only joyful.
16
Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the LORD your God in the place He chooses at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Tabernacles, and they shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed.
17
A man is like the gift of your hand, like the blessing of the LORD your God that He has given to you.
18
You shall appoint judges and officers for yourself in all your gates that the Lord your God gives you for your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.
19
You shall not distort justice; you shall not show favoritism, and you shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.
20
Righteousness, righteousness you shall pursue, so that you may live and inherit the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
21
You shall not plant for yourself any tree near the altar of the LORD your God, which you shall make for yourself.
22
And you shall not set up for yourself a sacred pillar that the LORD your God hates.
