King James Version

Deuteronomy • Chapter 23

1 A man shall not take his father's wife, and he shall not uncover his father's skirt. 2 No one wounded or crushed shall come into the assembly of the Lord. 3 A bastard shall not enter into the assembly of the Lord; even to the tenth generation shall he not enter into the assembly of the Lord. 4 An Ammonite or a Moabite shall not enter the assembly of the LORD; even to the tenth generation, none of them shall enter the assembly of the LORD forever. 5 Regarding the matter that they did not meet you with bread and with water on the way when you were coming out of Egypt, and that he hired against you Balaam son of Beor from Pethor of Aram Naharaim to curse you. 6 But the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam, and the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you. 7 Do not seek their peace and their good all the days of your life forever. 8 You shall not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother; you shall not abhor an Egyptian, for you were a stranger in his land. 9 Sons who will be born to them in the third generation will come to them in the assembly of the Lord. 10 When you go out to battle against your enemies, you shall guard yourself against every evil thing. 11 If there is in you a man who is not clean from the nighttime emission and he goes outside the camp, he shall not come into the midst of the camp. 12 And it shall be, at evening you shall wash in water, and when the sun sets, you shall come into the midst of the camp. 13 And your hand shall be outside the camp, and you shall go out there outside. 14 And you shall have a peg on your ear, and it shall be when you sit outside, and you shall dig in it and cover your excrement. 15 For the LORD your God walks in the midst of your camp to deliver you and to give your enemies before you, and your camp shall be holy, and He shall not see any unclean thing in you and turn away from you. 16 You shall not deliver a servant to his master who has escaped to you from his master. 17 He shall dwell with you in your midst in the place that he chooses in one of your gates for the good, and you shall not oppress him. 18 There shall be no cult prostitute among the daughters of Israel, and there shall be no cult prostitute among the sons of Israel. 19 You shall not bring the payment of a harlot or the price of a dog into the house of the LORD your God for any vow, for both are an abomination to the LORD your God. 20 You shall not charge your brother interest on money, interest on food, interest on anything that is lent at interest. 21 You shall not give a pledge to a stranger, but you shall give a pledge to your brother, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hand upon the land which you are entering to possess. 22 When you make a vow to the Lord your God, do not delay in fulfilling it, for the Lord your God will surely require it of you, and it will be sin in you. 23 And when you cease from making a vow, there will be no sin upon you. 24 You shall keep your vow that came out of your lips, and you shall do as you have vowed to the Lord your God, a freewill offering that you spoke with your mouth. 25 When you come into your neighbor's vineyard, you may eat grapes according to your desire, but you shall not put any in your vessel.
