King James Version

Deuteronomy • Chapter 7

1 When the LORD your God brings you into the land which you are entering to possess, and He drives out many nations before you, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you. 2 And you shall give over to the Lord your God before you, and you shall strike them; you shall utterly destroy them. You shall not make a covenant with them, nor shall you show them mercy. 3 And you shall not give your daughter to their son, nor shall you take their daughter for your son. 4 For he will turn your son away from following me, and they will serve other gods, and the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and he will destroy you quickly. 5 For if you do this to them, you shall tear down their altars and break their pillars and cut down their images, and you shall burn their idols with fire. 6 For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a special people for Himself, above all the peoples that are on the face of the earth. 7 The LORD has not set His affection on you or chosen you because you are more in number than any of the peoples, for you are the fewest of all the peoples. 8 For the love of the LORD your God, and in keeping the oath that He swore to your forefathers, the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. 9 And you shall know that the LORD your God, He is the faithful God who keeps the covenant and the kindness for those who love Him and for those who keep His commandments, to a thousand generations. 10 And He will repay to my enemies, to their face, to destroy them; He will not delay in repaying my enemies to their face. 11 And you shall keep the commandment and the statutes and the judgments which I command you today to do them. 12 And it will be that as a result of your listening to these judgments and keeping them and doing them, the Lord your God will keep for you the covenant and the lovingkindness that He swore to your ancestors. 13 And I will love you and bless you and multiply you, and I will bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock upon the land that I swore to your fathers to give to you. 14 Blessed shall you be among all the peoples; there shall not be among you a male or female barren, nor among your livestock. 15 And the LORD will remove from you all sickness and all the evil diseases of Egypt that you have known; He will not put them upon you and will inflict them on all your enemies. 16 And you shall consume all the nations that the Lord your God gives to you; you shall not show favor to them, and you shall not serve their gods, for it is a snare to you. 17 For you will say in your heart, "These nations are more numerous than I; how can I dispossess them?" 18 Do not fear them; remember what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt. 19 The great trials that your eyes have seen, and the signs and the wonders, and the strong hand and the outstretched arm that the Lord your God brought you out with, so will the Lord your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid. 20 And also the hornet will the Lord your God send among them until the lost and the hidden ones perish from before you. 21 You shall not be afraid of them, for the LORD your God is in your midst, a great and awesome God. 22 And the Lord your God will drive out these nations from before you little by little; you will not be able to put an end to them quickly, lest the wild animals increase upon you. 23 And the Lord your God will put before you a great tumult until they are destroyed. 24 And He will give their kings into your hand, and you shall destroy their name from under heaven; no man shall stand before you until you have destroyed them. 25 Do not take the silver and gold from them, and do not desire it, lest you be ensnared by it, for it is an abomination to the Lord your God. 26 And you shall not bring an abomination into your house, and you shall become a cursed thing like it; you shall utterly detest it and you shall utterly abhor it, for it is a cursed thing.
