1 And it was in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, while I was among the exiles by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. 2 In the fifth month, it is the fifth year of the exile of King Jehoiachin. 3 The word of the LORD came to Ezekiel the son of Buzi, the priest, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar, and the hand of the LORD was upon him there. 4 And I saw, and behold, a windstorm coming from the north, a great cloud, and a fire flashing forth, and brightness was all around it; and out of its midst, like the appearance of amber from the midst of the fire. 5 And in the midst of it, the likeness of four living creatures, and this was their appearance: the likeness of a man to them. 6 And four faces to one and four wings to one for them. 7 And their feet are a straight foot, and the sole of their feet is like the sole of a calf, and they sparkle like the appearance of burnished bronze. 8 And the hands of man under their wings upon their four sides, and their faces and their wings to their four. 9 The companions of a woman to her sister, their wings will not turn aside in their walking; a man will walk towards my face. 10 And the likeness of their faces was the face of a man, and the face of a lion on the right side, for the four of them; and the face of an ox on the left side, for the four of them; and the face of an eagle for the four of them. 11 And their faces are like the faces of men, and their wings are separate, above two; they each have two that cover their bodies. 12 And each man will go to the place where the spirit will go, they will not turn aside in their going. 13 And the likeness of the living creatures was like the appearance of burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches that moved between the living creatures, and there was brightness like fire, and out of the fire went forth lightning. 14 And the living creatures ran and returned like the appearance of a flash of lightning. 15 And I saw the creatures, and behold, a wheel was on the earth beside the creatures for four faces. 16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was like the color of beryl, and their form was one like the four of them, and their appearance and their work were as if the wheel were within the wheel. 17 On four corners they shall walk; they shall not turn in their walking. 18 And upon them, and their height is for them, and fear is for them, and their heights are full of eyes around their four. 19 And when the living creatures walk, the wheels will go beside them; and when the living creatures rise from the earth, the wheels will be lifted up. 20 Because the spirit will be there, the spirit will go to walk there, and the wheels will be lifted up opposite them, for the spirit of the living being is in the wheels. 21 When they walk, they will walk, and when they stand, they will stand, and when they are lifted up from the earth, the wheels will be lifted up opposite them, for the spirit of the living being is in the wheels. 22 And the appearance upon the heads of the creature was like the eye of the awesome ice stretched upon their heads from above. 23 And under the expanse, their wings were straight to one another; for a man two covering for them, and for a man two covering for them their bodies. 24 And I heard the voice of their wings as the voice of many waters, as the voice of Shaddai, when they went: the voice of a multitude, as the voice of a camp, when they stood still, their wings would lower. 25 And there was a voice from above the firmament that was over their heads, and when they stood, their wings were let down. 26 And above the firmament that is over their heads, the appearance of a sapphire stone, like the appearance of a throne; and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above it. 27 And I looked, and behold, a figure like that of amber, like the appearance of fire from the waist down; and from the waist up, I saw like the appearance of fire, and there was brightness around it. 28 Like the appearance of the rainbow that will be in the cloud on the day of rain, so is the appearance of the radiance around. It is the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And I saw, and I fell on my face, and I heard a voice speaking.
