King James Version

Ezekiel • Chapter 12

1 And the word of the Lord came to me saying. 2 Son of man, in the midst of the house of rebellion you sit, whose eyes are to see but do not see, and whose ears are to hear but do not hear, because they are a house of rebellion. 3 And you, son of man, make for yourself a pottery vessel and put it out in the open before their eyes, and you shall carry it out from your place to another place before their eyes; perhaps they will see that they are a rebellious house. 4 And you shall bring forth your vessels before their eyes in the daytime, and you shall go out in the evening before their eyes like the exiles go out. 5 In their sight, you shall cut for yourself a hole in the wall and bring it out. 6 In their sight, upon the shoulder you will carry; in darkness, you will bring forth. Your face will be covered, and you will not see the land, for I have given you a sign for the house of Israel. 7 And I did so as I was commanded; I brought out the utensils of the exile by day, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my hand; in the darkness I brought them out and carried them on my shoulder in their sight. 8 And the word of the Lord came to me in the morning, saying. 9 Son of man, have they not said to you, O house of Israel, house of the rebellion, what are you doing? 10 Say to them, Thus says my Lord Yahweh: The prince, the burden, this is in Jerusalem and all the house of Israel that are among them. 11 Say, I am a sign for you; as I have done, so will it be done to them in the captivity; they will go in the exile. 12 And the prince who is among them shall raise it upon the shoulder and go out through the wall; they shall make a breach to bring it out, and his face shall be covered because he cannot see the land. 13 And I will spread my net upon him, and he will be caught in my trap, and I will bring him to Babylon, to the land of the Chaldeans, and he will not see it, and there he will die. 14 And all that is around me I will help, and I will gird all of my sides for every wind, and the sword will sweep behind them. 15 And they shall know that I am the LORD when I scatter them among the nations and gather them in the countries. 16 And I will spare from them men of number from sword, from famine, and from pestilence, so that they may recount all their abominations among the nations to which they have come, and they will know that I am the LORD. 17 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying. 18 Son of man, with your bread you shall eat in turmoil, and with your waters you shall drink in anxiety and distress. 19 And you shall say to the people of the land, 'Thus says my Lord, Yahweh, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, "They shall eat their bread with anxiety, and they shall drink their water in desolation, in order that their land may be made desolate from the fullness of all those who dwell in it." 20 And the cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste, and the land shall be desolate; and you shall know that I am the Lord. 21 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying. 22 Son of man, what is this proverb to you concerning the land of Israel, saying, "The days are prolonged, and every vision fails"? 23 Therefore say to them, Thus says my Lord Yahweh: I have put an end to this proverb, and it shall no longer be used in Israel. Say to them, The days are coming, and every vision. 24 For there will no longer be any false vision and divination within the house of Israel. 25 For I am the Lord; I will speak the word that I will speak, and it shall not be postponed any longer, for in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it, says the Lord God. 26 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying. 27 Son of man, behold, the house of Israel says, "The vision that he sees is for many days to come, and he prophesies of times far off." 28 Therefore say to them, Thus says my Lord Yahweh: No longer shall all my words be delayed, which I speak and it shall be done, declares my Lord Yahweh.
