King James Version

Ezekiel • Chapter 19

1 And you shall lift up a lament for the leaders of Israel. 2 And you shall say, "What is your mother? A lioness lying among young lions, she raised her cubs." 3 And one of the young lions rose up and learned to catch prey; he devoured men. 4 And the nations heard me, and you were caught in your destruction, and they brought him by hooks to the land of Egypt. 5 And she saw that her hope was lost, and she took one of her cubs. 6 And he walked among lions; he was a young lion, and he learned to tear prey; he devoured humans. 7 And he knew about their widows and their cities that were destroyed, and the land was filled with the sound of their shouting. 8 And they gave to me nations around my borders, and they spread their nets over me in their destruction. 9 And they put him in prison in chains and brought him to the king of Babylon; they brought him to the pits so that his voice would no longer be heard in the mountains of Israel. 10 Your mother is like a vine in your blood, planted by water; fruitful and with branches, she was from many waters. 11 And there were to her staffs of strength to the tribes of rulers, and her height was raised above the beams, and she was seen in her height in the multitude of her windows. 12 And it was cast in fury to the land; it was thrown, and the east wind dried up her fruit; they were shattered, and her mighty staff was withered; fire consumed her. 13 And now, planted in the desert in a land of drought and thirst. 14 And fire went out from the staff of the tree, and it consumed its fruit, and there was no staff of strength to rule. It was a lament, and it became a lament.
