1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying. 2 Son of man, there were two women, daughters of one mother. 3 And they prostituted themselves in Egypt; in their youth, they acted like harlots there; they allowed their breasts to be crushed and there they made their virgin breasts bare. 4 And their names were Aholah the great and Aholibah her sister, and they became mine, and they bore sons and daughters, and their names were Samaria Aholah and Jerusalem Aholibah. 5 And she lowered her tent below, and she was buried with her lovers near Assyria. 6 In garments of blue, purple, and scarlet, the young men of desire, all of them, are mounted horsemen. 7 And she gave her fornication upon them from the chosen sons of Asshur, all of them, and in all that she was inflamed with all their idols, she became defiled. 8 And she did not abandon her whoredoms from Egypt, for in her youth they lay with her, and they poured out their whoredoms upon her. 9 Therefore, I have given her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the sons of Assyria, for whom she lusted. 10 They uncovered the nakedness of her sons and her daughters, and took her with the sword; and her name became a reproach among women, and judges were appointed over her. 11 And her sister saw that she was brought low, and she corrupted her goodness from her, and her uncleanness from the uncleanness of her sister. 12 To the sons of Asshur, there are those who agitate, lesser and noble ones, close to the garments of a multitude, horsemen of steeds, youthful ones of delight, all of them. 13 And I saw that the way was defiled for one of the two. 14 And she added to her harlotries, and she saw the men carved on the wall, images of Chaldeans, carved in the likeness of a man. 15 Your girdles are bound at your loins; your heads are covered with the appearance of threes, all of you are like the likeness of the sons of Babylon, Chaldeans, the land of your birth. 16 And she was distressed before their eyes, and she sent messengers to them in Chaldea. 17 And the sons of Babylon came to her for the bed of lovers, and they defiled her with their whoredoms, and she was defiled by them, and her soul was alienated from them. 18 And you revealed her harlotry, and you uncovered her nakedness, and my soul was crushed above her like my soul was crushed above her sister. 19 And she will increase her harlotries to remember the days of her youth, when she acted as a harlot in the land of Egypt. 20 And you were amazed by their concubines who were like the flesh of donkeys, and the issue of horses, their issue. 21 And you will remember the time of your youth in doing the things of Egypt for the sake of the breasts of your youth. 22 Therefore, I will allure her; thus says my Lord, Yahweh: Behold, I am awakening your love upon you, that which has struck your soul from them, and I will bring them upon you from all around. 23 The sons of Babylon and all the Chaldeans are counted, and the mighty and the valiant, all the sons of Assyria, are among the choice young men, fewer and the officials, all of them thirty and the recruits riding horses, all of them. 24 And they will come upon you with chariots and wheels, and in the assembly of peoples, they will set a shield and a buckler around you, and I will give them judgment, and they will judge you according to their judgments. 25 And I will put your jealousy upon you, and they will act against you with the fierceness of your anger, and your ears will be removed, and your end will fall by the sword; your sons and your daughters will be taken, and your end will be consumed by fire. 26 And they will strip you of your garments and take your beautiful items. 27 And I will remove your harlotry from you, and your fornication from the land of Egypt, and you will not lift your eyes to them, and Egypt you will no longer remember. 28 For thus says the Lord: Behold, I am giving you into the hand of him whom you hate, into the hand of him who has sought your life. 29 And they will make you into hatred, and they will take all your labor and leave you naked and bare, and they will reveal your nakedness from whoredoms and your lewdness and your harlotries. 30 He has done these to you because of your sins after the nations, for you have been defiled by their idols. 31 In the way of your sister you walked, and I gave her cup into your hand. 32 Thus says the Lord God: You will drink from your sister's deep and wide cup; it will be for mockery and derision, an abundance for the gathering. 33 The cup of drunkenness and sorrow will fill me; the cup of desolation and waste, the cup of your sister Samaria. 34 And you will drink it and find it, and your wickedness will cause you to be removed, for I have spoken, says the Lord God. 35 Therefore, thus says the Lord God: Because you have forgotten Me and cast Me behind your back, also you bear the burden of your wickedness and your harlotries. 36 And the Lord said to me, Son of man, will you judge Aholah and Aholibah, and declare to them their abominations? 37 For they committed adultery and their hands were stained with blood, and they committed adultery with their idols, and also they made their sons, whom they bore to me, pass through the fire to them as food. 38 Moreover, they have done this to me: they have defiled my sanctuary on that day and have profaned my Sabbaths. 39 And they slaughtered their sons for their idols, and they came to My sanctuary on that day to profane it, and behold, thus they have done in the midst of My house. 40 And even if you send men from a distance, that a messenger was sent to them, and behold, they have come to that which you have washed and colored your eyes and adorned yourself. 41 And you will sit on a glorious bed, and a table prepared before her, and I will incense and anoint her. 42 And the sound of a great multitude is in it, and to the men from the great crowd are brought those who are staggering, drinking from the wilderness, and they gave bracelets to their hands and a crown of glory upon their heads. 43 And I said to the destruction, "Now at this time they will commit adultery; she is a harlot." 44 And he came to her as one comes to a harlot; so they came to the tent and to the tent of the harlot of the wicked. 45 And righteous men will judge them with the judgment of adulterers and with the judgment of murderers, for they are adulterers and blood is in their hands. 46 For thus says my Lord Yahweh: Bring up against them a congregation and give them to terror and to plunder. 47 And they will stone them with stones, and they will kill them with their swords, their sons and their daughters, and they will burn their houses with fire. 48 And I will stop the lewdness from the land, and all the women will be turned away, and they will not act like your lewdness. 49 And they will give a sign upon you, and your sins of idols will be carried away, and you will know that I am the Lord God.
