King James Version

Ezekiel • Chapter 28

1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying... 2 Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre: Thus says my Lord Yahweh: Because your heart is lifted up and you say, "I am a god; I sit in the seat of gods, in the heart of the seas," yet you are a man and not a god, and you set your heart as the heart of God. 3 Behold, you are wise, Daniel; all secret things are not hidden from you. 4 With your wisdom and with your understanding, you have made for yourself strength, and you have made gold and silver in your treasuries. 5 In the abundance of your wisdom and in your wealth, you have increased your power, and your heart has become proud because of your power. 6 Therefore, thus says the Lord God: Because you set your heart like the heart of God. 7 Therefore, behold, I am bringing upon you ruthless foreigners, mighty ones of nations, and they will empty your swords upon the beauty of your wisdom, and they will profane your splendor. 8 To the grave, they will bring you down, and you will die with the slain in the heart of the seas. 9 "Say, ‘I am before your killers and you are a man, not a god in the hands of my profaners.’" 10 The deaths of the uncircumcised will die by the hand of strangers, for I have spoken, says the Lord Yahweh. 11 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying. 12 Son of man, take up a lamentation against the king of Tyre and say to him, "Thus says the Lord God: You are the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty." 13 In the Eden of the garden of God, you were with every precious stone for your covering: carnelian, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, emerald, and gold; the workmanship of your settings and your sockets was in you on the day you were created. 14 You were like a cherub, with a shield; I placed you on the holy mountain of God; you walked among the stones of fire. 15 You are blameless in your ways from the day of your creation until wickedness was found in you. 16 In the abundance of your merchandise, you became filled with violence and sinned; therefore I have profaned you, and I will cast you out as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and I will destroy you, O covering cherub, from among the fiery stones. 17 Your beauty has exalted your heart; you have corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. I have cast you to the ground; I have laid you before kings, that they may gaze at you. 18 Because of your many sins, you have profaned my sanctuaries, and I will bring fire from within you; it will consume you, and I will give you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all who see you. 19 All your known ones among the nations have become desolate upon you; you have been like a waste, and you are not forever. 20 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying. 21 Son of man, set your face toward Sidon and prophesy against her. 22 And you shall say, Thus says my Lord Yahweh: Behold, I am against you, O Sidon, and I will be glorified in your midst, and they shall know that I am Yahweh when I execute judgments in her and sanctify myself in her. 23 And I will send disease and blood into her streets, and the slain will fall in her midst, with the sword against her all around, and they will know that I am the Lord. 24 And there will no longer be a thornbush or a thorn that causes pain for the house of Israel from all around them, and they will know that I am the Lord God. 25 Thus says my Lord Yahweh: I will gather the house of Israel from the nations where they have been scattered, and I will be sanctified in them before the eyes of the nations, and they shall dwell on their own land which I gave to my servant Jacob. 26 And they will dwell securely upon her, and they will build houses and plant vineyards, and they will dwell securely in doing My judgments against all the ones around them, and they will know that I am the Lord their God.
