King James Version
Ezekiel • Chapter 3
1
And he said to me, "Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll and go, speak to the house of Israel."
2
And I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat this scroll.
3
And he said to me, "Son of man, eat your fill of this scroll that I am giving to you," and I ate it, and it was in my mouth like honey for sweetness.
4
And He said to me, "Son of man, go, enter into the house of Israel and speak to them my words."
5
For you are not sent to a people of deep speech and heavy tongue, but to the house of Israel.
6
I did not send you to a people of deep speech and heavy language, whose words you do not understand; if not to them, I have sent you; they will listen to you.
7
And the house of Israel will not want to listen to you, for they do not want to listen to me; for all the house of Israel is hard of face and obstinate of heart.
8
Behold, I have made your face strong against their faces and your forehead strong against their foreheads.
9
As a thorn, strong from a rock, I have made your face; do not fear them and do not be dismayed before them, for they are a house of rebellion.
10
And he said to me, "Son of man, take to heart all my words that I speak to you, and listen with your ears."
11
And go to the exiles, to the sons of your people, and speak to them and say to them, Thus says my Lord Yahweh: Whether they will listen or whether they will refrain.
12
And the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the voice of a great roaring: Blessed is the glory of the Lord from His place.
13
And the sound of the wings of the creatures touches one to another, and the sound of the wheels opposite them, and the sound of a great noise.
14
And the spirit lifted me up, and it took me, and I went in bitterness in the heat of my spirit, and the hand of the Lord was strong upon me.
15
I will come to the exile, to Tel Aviv, where those sitting by the Kfar River are, and I sat there for seven days, astonished at them.
16
And it was, at the end of seven days, that the word of the Lord came to me, saying.
17
Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; and you shall hear a word from my mouth and warn them from me.
18
When I say to the wicked, "You will surely die," and you do not warn him, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, he is a wicked man; in his iniquity he shall die, and I will require his blood at your hand.
19
And you, because you have warned the wicked, and he has not turned from his wickedness and from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity, but you have saved your soul.
20
When a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, I will place a stumbling block before him; he will die because you did not warn him against his sin. His righteousness that he has done will not be remembered, and I will require his blood from your hand.
21
And you, because you warned the righteous to not sin, and he did not sin, he shall live because he was warned, and you have saved your soul.
22
And the hand of the Lord was there upon me, and He said to me, "Get up, go out to the valley, and there I will speak to you."
23
And I will rise and go out to the plain, and behold, there the glory of the Lord stands, like the glory that I saw by the river Chebar, and I fell on my face.
24
And a spirit came upon me and set me on my feet, and he spoke to me and said to me, "Come, be shut up inside your house."
25
And you, son of man, behold, they have put ropes upon you and bound you with them, and you shall not go out among them.
26
And I will stick your tongue to your palate, and you will be mute and not be to them a man who reproves, for they are a rebellious house.
27
And when I speak to you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, "Thus says the Lord God: The one who hears will hear, and the one who abstains will abstain, for they are a rebellious house."
