King James Version
Ezekiel • Chapter 9
1
And he called with a loud voice in my ears, saying, "Draw near, you appointed ones of the city, and each man with his destroying weapon in his hand."
2
And behold, six men were coming from the direction of the upper gate that faces north, and each had a tool for slaughtering in his hand; and one man among them was clothed in linen and had a writer's inkhorn at his waist. And they came and stood beside the bronze altar.
3
And the glory of the God of Israel ascended from above the cherub that was above me to the entrance of the house, and he called to the man who was clothed in linen, who had the writing kit at his waist.
4
And the Lord said to me, "Go through the city, through Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it."
5
And to these He said in my ears, "Pass through the city after me and strike; do not spare your eyes, and do not have pity."
6
Kill the old man, the young man, the woman, the child, and do not touch anyone who has the mark on them; and begin at my sanctuary. So they began with the old men who were before the house.
7
And he said to them, "You have defiled the house and filled the courtyards with the slain; go out and strike the city."
8
And it came to pass, as I was killing them, that I was left alone, and I fell on my face and cried out and said, "Ah, Lord GOD, will You destroy all the remnant of Israel in pouring out Your fury upon Jerusalem?"
9
And He said to me, "The sin of the house of Israel and Judah is very great, and the land is filled with blood, and the city is full of injustice, for they said, 'The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see.'"
10
And I also will not spare my eye, and I will not have compassion; I have given their way upon their head.
11
And behold, the man dressed in fine linen, whose belt is around my waist, answers saying, "I have done just as you commanded me."
