King James Version

Ezra • Chapter 1

1 In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, and he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also in writing, saying. 2 Thus said Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth has Yahweh, the God of heaven, given to me; and he has charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. 3 Whoever among you, from all his people, may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah, and let him build the house of the LORD, the God of Israel; he is the God who is in Jerusalem. 4 And all that remains from all the places where he lived there, the men of his place will bring with silver and with gold and with goods and with livestock along with the offering for the house of God which is in Jerusalem. 5 And the leaders of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin and the priests and the Levites rose up to bring up the spirit of God to build the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem. 6 And all around them strengthened by their hands in silver vessels, in gold, in possessions, and in beasts, and in delicacies, apart from all who volunteered. 7 And King Cyrus brought out the vessels of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought out from Jerusalem, and placed them in the house of his god. 8 And Cyrus king of Persia brought forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and he told to Sheshbazzar the prince of Judah. 9 And these are the numbers of the gold bowls, thirty gold bowls; a thousand silver bowls, nine hundred and twenty. 10 As gold being thirty, as silver being two hundred, and ten other tools being a thousand. 11 All utensils of gold and silver, five thousand four hundred, all of them Sheshbazzar brought up with the exiles from Babylon to Jerusalem.
