King James Version

Hebrews • Chapter 6

1 Therefore, leaving the word of the beginning of Christ, let us move on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God. 2 the teaching of baptisms and the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment. 3 And we will do this if God permits. 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit. 5 And having tasted the good word of God and the powers of the coming age, 6 And falling away, to renew again to repentance, crucifying for themselves the Son of God and putting Him to shame. 7 For the land that often brings forth rain upon it, and produces suitable plants for those for whom it is cultivated, receives blessings from God. 8 Bringing forth thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to a curse, whose end is for burning. 9 We are convinced about you, beloved, of better things and things that pertain to salvation, even if we speak in this way. 10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints and continue to minister. 11 We desire, however, each of you to show the same diligence toward the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 So that you may not become slothful, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. 13 For when God promised Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself. 14 Saying, "Indeed, I will bless you and multiplying I will multiply you." 15 And thus, having been patient, he obtained the promise. 16 For people swear by something greater, and the oath is for them a finality to confirm all arguments. 17 In which more abundantly wanting to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable nature of his purpose, God intervened with an oath, 18 So that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge may have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. 19 Which we have as an anchor of the soul, both secure and steadfast, and entering into the inner place behind the veil, 20 Where the forerunner Jesus has entered on our behalf, having become a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek forever.
