King James Version
Job • Chapter 29
1
And Job added to take up his parable and said.
2
Who will give me like the months of old, like the days when God watched over me?
3
In his light, I walk in darkness.
4
When I was in the days of my disgrace, in the secret of God upon my tent.
5
While there is still God with me, around my youth.
6
In the heat, my steps shall wash, and the rock shall be cast with the streams of oil.
7
When I go out the gate onto the street, I will set up my seat.
8
I saw young men, and they hid, and the old men rose up and stood.
9
Princes were restrained with words, and they put a hand to their mouth.
10
The voice of the rulers is hidden, and their tongue clings to their palate.
11
For the ear heard and witnessed me, and the eye saw and testified to me.
12
For I will deliver the poor who cry out, and the orphan who has no helper.
13
The blessing of the lost shall come upon me, and the heart of the widow shall rejoice.
14
I have clothed myself with righteousness, and it has wrapped me like a robe and a turban of justice.
15
I was eyes for the blind and feet for the lame.
16
I am a father to the needy, and I do not know how to investigate.
17
And I will break the chains of the wicked, and I will cast away the plunder from my teeth.
18
And I said, "When I lament, I will be in pain, and like the sand, I will be for many days."
19
A root exposed to water, and dew rests on my harvest.
20
My glory is new with me, and I will exchange it in my hand.
21
They heard and were afraid, and they were silent before my counsel.
22
After my word, they will not change, and upon you, my word will pour out.
23
And they will rain like rain upon me; and their mouth will be opened for the latter rain.
24
I will laugh at them; they will not believe, and the light of my face will not fall upon them.
25
I will choose a path and I will sit as a chief, and I will dwell like a king in the multitude, as one who comforts mourners.
