King James Version
Judges • Chapter 5
1
And Deborah sang, and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,
2
When he frees the oppressed in Israel, when they willingly offer themselves, the Lord blesses.
3
Hear, O kings; give ear, O rulers; I, to the Lord, will sing; I will make music to the Lord, the God of Israel.
4
The LORD, when you go out from Seir, when you march from the field of Edom, the earth shook; also the heavens dropped; yes, the clouds dropped water.
5
The mountains flowed away from before the Lord; this is Sinai from before the Lord, the God of Israel.
6
In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and travelers went on winding pathways.
7
Cease the leader in Israel; cease until I arose, Deborah, arose a mother in Israel.
8
God will choose new ones for the gates of the bread, a shield if it is seen, and a spear among forty thousand in Israel.
9
My heart is for the lawgivers of Israel who willingly give among the people; may the Lord bless.
10
Riders of black donkeys sit on the mediation and those going along the path of conversation.
11
From the sound of the grinding between the wells, there they will give the righteousness of the Lord, the righteousness of His people in Israel. Then the people of the Lord will descend to the gates.
12
Awake, awake, Deborah; awake, awake, speak a song. Arise, Barak, and lead your captives, son of Abinoam.
13
Then a remnant shall descend to the mighty ones; the people of the Lord shall descend to me among the heroes.
14
From Ephraim their root is in Amalek; after you, Benjamin, among your people. From Makhir they came down; engravers, and from Zebulun, those who draw the scribe’s rod.
15
And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah, and Issachar was also with Barak in the valley, rushing at his feet, and in the divisions of Reuben there were great resolutions of the heart.
16
Why did you sit between the judgments to hear the shouts of the herds for the divisions of Reuben, great is the searchings of the heart?
17
Gilead, across the Jordan, dwells, and Dan, why do ships dwell on the shore of the seas, and on its creeks they shall dwell.
18
Zebulun is a people who have exposed their lives to death, and Naphtali is on the heights of the field.
19
Kings came and fought; then the kings of Canaan fought at Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they did not take a bride price of silver.
20
From heavens they fought, the stars from their courses fought against Sisera.
21
The Kishon brook has been drawn; the ancient brooks, the Kishon brook, guide my soul in strength.
22
Then they followed the hooves of the horses that gallop, the galloping of my heroes.
23
Cursed are those who said, "Because they did not come to the help of the Lord, to the help of the Lord among the mighty."
24
Blessed among women is Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite; blessed is she among women in the tent.
25
Waters asked, she gave milk; in a cup of the mighty, she offered cream.
26
Her hand will send forth the tent peg, and her right hand will strike the weary; she struck Sisera, she crushed his head, and she shattered and pierced his temple.
27
Between her legs, he knelt down; he fell down between her legs; in that place where he knelt down, he fell, crushed.
28
Through the window, she looked out and cried out, "Why does his chariot delay? Why do the wheels of his chariots hesitate?"
29
The wise ones of her will answer, indeed she will respond to her words.
30
Will they not find, they will divide the spoil, the wombs of those who have mercy, at the head of the man, the spoil of the dyed garments, for Sisera, the spoil of the dyed garments, the color of the dyed garments, for the necks of the spoil.
31
Thus all Your enemies, O Lord, shall perish; but Your lovers shall be like the sun when it goes forth in its might, and the land shall enjoy peace for forty years.
