King James Version

Matthew • Chapter 28

1 Now after the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat upon it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing was white like snow. 4 And from his fear, those who were keeping watch trembled and became like dead men. 5 And the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who was crucified." 6 It is not here, for he has risen as he said; come, see the place where he lay. 7 And quickly going, tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead, and behold, He goes before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you. 8 And having quickly departed from the tomb with fear and great joy, they ran to tell his disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them, saying: "Rejoice.” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus says to them, "Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me." 11 And as they were going, behold, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened. 12 And having gathered with the elders, they took counsel and gave sufficient silver to the soldiers. 13 Saying, "Tell that His disciples came by night and stole Him while we were sleeping." 14 And if this is heard by the governor, we will persuade him and make you carefree. 15 And they took the silver and did as they were taught. And this word was proclaimed among the Jews until this very day. 16 But the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And seeing him, they worshiped, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth." 19 Therefore, going, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. 20 Teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the age.
