King James Version
Matthew • Chapter 8
1
And as he came down from the mountain, many crowds followed him.
2
And behold, a leper came to him, worshiping him and saying, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."
3
And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I want, be cleansed.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4
And Jesus said to him, "See that you tell no one, but go show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded as a testimony to them."
5
And when he entered into Capernaum, a centurion approached him, pleading with him.
6
And he said: Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, grievously tormented.
7
And he says to him, "I will come and heal him."
8
And the centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not worthy for you to enter under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed."
9
For I am also a man under authority, having soldiers under myself, and I say to this one, 'Go,' and he goes, and to another, 'Come,' and he comes, and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it.
10
And when Jesus heard, he marveled and said to those following him, "Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith in Israel."
11
But I say to you that many will come from the east and the west and will recline at table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven;
12
But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13
And Jesus said to the centurion, "Go, as you have believed, let it be done for you." And the servant was healed at that hour.
14
And Jesus, having come into the house of Peter, saw his mother-in-law lying down and burning with fever.
15
And he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she arose and served him.
16
And when evening came, they brought to him many who were possessed by demons; and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill.
17
So that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled, saying: He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.
18
And when Jesus saw many crowds around him, he commanded them to depart to the other side.
19
And a scribe approached and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."
20
And Jesus says to him, "The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head."
21
Another of the disciples said to him, "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father."
22
But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."
23
And when he entered the boat, his disciples followed him.
24
And behold, a great earthquake occurred in the sea, so that the ship was being covered by the waves, but he was sleeping.
25
And they approached him, saying: Lord, save us; we are perishing.
26
And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, you of little faith?" Then getting up, he rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
27
And the men were amazed, saying, "What sort of man is this that even the winds and the sea obey him?"
28
And when he had come to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him, coming out of the tombs, so exceedingly fierce that no one could pass that way.
29
And behold, they cried out, saying: What have we to do with you, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?
30
And there was a large herd of many pigs grazing far from them.
31
But the demons begged him, saying, "If you cast us out, send us into the herd of pigs."
32
And he said to them, "Go." And they went out and went into the pigs; and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep place into the sea, and they perished in the waters.
33
And the shepherds ran away, and having gone into the city, they announced everything and what had happened to the demon-possessed.
34
And behold, all the city went out to meet Jesus, and when they saw him, they urged him to depart from their borders.
