King James Version
Micah • Chapter 1
1
The word of the Lord that came to Micah of Moresheth in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.
2
Hear, O peoples, all of you; give ear, O earth and its fullness. And let the Lord Yahweh be a witness against you, the Lord from His holy temple.
3
For behold, the LORD goes out from His place and will come down and tread upon the heights of the earth.
4
And the mountains will melt like wax in the presence of the fire, like waters flowing down a slope.
5
In the transgression of Jacob, all this, and in the sins of the house of Israel, who is Jacob's transgression? Is it not Samaria? And who are the high places of Judah? Is it not Jerusalem?
6
And I will place Samaria as a city of the field for vineyard plantings, and I will gather the stones of it and its foundations I will reveal.
7
And all of her idols will be shattered, and all her gifts will be burned in fire, and all her images I will make a desolation; for from the gifts of a harlot they were gathered, and to the gifts of a harlot they will return.
8
For this I will lament and wail; I will go barefoot and naked; I will make lamentation like the jackals and mourning like the ostriches.
9
For it is one who is afflicted, her wounds are because she has come to Judah, the blow has reached to the gate of my people, to Jerusalem.
10
In Gath, do not tell; in Acco, do not weep; in the house of Aphrah, roll in the dust.
11
A Hebrew woman from you sits in Shafir, naked in shame; the woman from Zaanan will not come out; the lamentation of the house of Ezel will take from you its standing.
12
For it has been good for the one who dwells in bitterness, for evil has descended from the Lord to the gate of Jerusalem.
13
The chariot of the horseman dwelling in Lachish is the beginning of sin to the daughter of Zion, for in you are found the transgressions of Israel.
14
Therefore, you shall give away the inheritances of Gath, the houses of Achzib to the kings of Israel.
15
Still, the heir of your father who dwells in Mareshah until Adullam will come, the glory of Israel.
16
I am bald and shaggy over the sons of your delight; your expanse is bald like an eagle, for they have uncovered from you.
