King James Version

Micah • Chapter 6

1 Hear now what the LORD says: Arise, contend with the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice. 2 Hear, O mountains, the dispute of the LORD and you, strong foundations of the earth, for the LORD has a dispute with His people and He will contend with Israel. 3 My people, what have I done to you, and how have I wearied you? Answer me! 4 For I have brought you up from the land of Egypt and from the house of bondage, and I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. 5 My people, remember what Balak king of Moab planned and how he answered Balaam the son of Beor from Shittim to Gilgal, in order to know the righteous acts of the Lord. 6 With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself to the God on high? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? 7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with myriad rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8 It has been told to you, O man, what is good and what the LORD requires of you, but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God. 9 The voice of the Lord calls to the city, and wisdom will see Your name; listen to the rod, and who appointed it. 10 Still the house of the wicked has treasures of wickedness and an ephah of violence. 11 I will weigh in crooked scales and in a bag of deceitful stones. 12 Those who are rich are full of violence, and its inhabitants have spoken falsehood, and their tongues are deceit in their mouth. 13 And I too have struck you, the wounded, because of your sins. 14 You will eat and not be satisfied, and what is in your midst will be removed, and you will be oppressed and not escape; and whatever you escape, I will give to the sword. 15 You will sow and not harvest; you will tread olives and not anoint with oil; you will have new wine and not drink wine. 16 And you shall keep the statutes of Omri and all the works of the house of Ahab, and you shall walk in their counsel so that you may become a desolation and the inhabitants thereof a hissing, and you shall bear the reproach of my people.
