King James Version

Psalms • Chapter 109

1 For the conductor; a psalm of David. My God, do not be silent. 2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of deceit have opened against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues. 3 And the words of hatred surrounded me, and they fought against me for nothing. 4 Because of my love, they hate me, and I am prayer. 5 And they set evil against me instead of good, and hatred instead of love. 6 Appoint a wicked one against me, and Satan will stand at his right hand. 7 When he is judged, the wicked shall go out, and his prayer shall be for sin. 8 His days shall be few; his office shall another take. 9 My sons will be orphans and his wife a widow. 10 And Noah's sons will be moved, and they will ask, and they will seek from their ruins. 11 The catch of the oppressor will be for all that is his and strangers will plunder his labor. 12 Let there be no mercy to him, and let there be no Grace to his orphans. 13 Let there be an end to the one who destroys in a future generation; may their name be wiped out. 14 Remember the iniquity of my fathers, O Lord, and do not wipe away the sin of my mother. 15 They shall be before the LORD always, and He will cut off their memory from the earth. 16 Because he did not remember to do kindness and chased after a poor and needy man and hurt the heart to death. 17 And he loved cursing, and it came to him; he did not desire blessing, and it was far from him. 18 And he put on a robe like a garment, and it came in like water into his midst, and like oil into my bones. 19 Let it be like a garment that He will wear and like a belt that He will always gird. 20 This is the work of my adversary from the Lord, and those who speak evil against my soul. 21 And you, O Lord, my master, do for me for the sake of your name, for your goodness is great; save me. 22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. 23 Like the shadow of the branches, I have walked, I have been shaken like the grass. 24 I was blessed; they stumbled from fasting, and my flesh wasted away from oil. 25 And I was a disgrace to them; they will see me and will shake their heads. 26 Help me, O Lord my God; save me according to your kindness. 27 "And they will know that it is your hand, O Lord, that has done this." 28 Let them be cursed, but you will bless; arise and they will be ashamed, and your servant will rejoice. 29 They will wear shame as a robe and will cover themselves with disgrace as a cloak. 30 I will greatly thank the Lord in the midst of many; I will praise Him. 31 For he will stand at the right of the poor to save from the judges of his soul.
