King James Version

Psalms • Chapter 59

1 For the conductor: Do not destroy. A song of David, when Saul sent men to watch the house to kill him. 2 Save me from my enemies, O my God; lift me up from those who rise against me. 3 Save me from the workers of iniquity and from men of bloodshed, rescue me. 4 For behold, they have hidden for my life; they have gathered against me mighty ones, not for my transgression and not for my sin, O Yahweh. 5 Without sin, they will run and will establish us, awake to meet me and see. 6 And you, O Yahweh, God of hosts, God of Israel, awaken to punish all the nations; do not show Grace to all the treacherous. Selah. 7 They will return to the evening; they will growl like a dog and will go around the city. 8 Behold, they will express in their mouths swords; in their lips, for who hears? 9 But you, O Lord, will laugh at them; you will mock all the nations. 10 I will guard you, O my strength, for God is my refuge. 11 God of kindness, my kindness will advance me; God will look at my distress. 12 Do not kill, lest my people forget; shake them with your might and bring them down, our Lord. 13 The sin of my mouth and the word of my lips will be caught in pride, and from above they will speak deceit. 14 Complete in anger, complete, and there is none; and they will know that God reigns in Jacob to the ends of the earth. Selah. 15 And they will return to the evening; they will growl like dogs and they will surround the city. 16 They will move to eat if they are not satisfied, and they will lodge. 17 And I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your mercy in the morning, for you have been a refuge for me and a fortress in the day of my trouble.
