1 Peter 2:21

For hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps:

This is God (Elohim)'s purpose for you: because Yashua (Jesus) himself underwent punishment for you, giving you an example, so that you might go in his footsteps:

For unto this are you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example that you should follow his steps.

He took the consequences of our sins on himself in his body on the cross, so that we could die to sin and live rightly. “By his wounds you are healed.”

For God (Elohim) called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.
