Verse 29

Nehemiah 9:29

Geneva Bible

29 And protestedst among them that thou mightest bring them againe vnto thy Lawe: but they behaued them selues proudely, and hearkened not vnto thy commandements, but sinned against thy iudgements (which a man should doe and liue in them) and pulled away the shoulder, and were stiffenecked, and woulde not heare.

English Translation
And they testified against them to bring them back to Your Torah, but they rebelled and did not listen to Your commandments and Your ordinances; they sinned against them. What a person will do and live by them, they gave a rebellious shoulder and made stubborn their neck, and they did not listen.
