ὅμοιοί εἰσιν παιδίοις τοῖς ἐν ἀγορᾷ καθημένοις καὶ προσφωνοῦσιν ἀλλήλοις, ⸂ἃ λέγει⸃· Ηὐλήσαμεν ὑμῖν καὶ οὐκ ὠρχήσασθε· ⸀ἐθρηνήσαμεν καὶ οὐκ ἐκλαύσατε·
English Translation
They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, saying: We played the flute for you and you did not dance; we sang a lament and you did not weep.

They are like unto children that sit in the marketplace, and call one to another; who say, We piped unto you, and ye did not dance; we wailed, and ye did not weep.

They are like unto children that sit in the marketplace, and call one to another, and say, We piped unto you, and ye did not dance; we wailed unto you, and ye did not weep.

They are like children who are seated in the market-place, crying out to one another, and saying, We made music for you, but you did not take part in the dance; we gave cries of sorrow, but you were not sad.
