The Book of Matthew presents Jesus Christ as the promised Messiah, King, and fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. Beginning with the genealogy and miraculous birth of Jesus, the book establishes His connection to Abraham and King David, showing Him as the rightful heir to God’s covenant promises. Matthew records the ministry of John the Baptist, the baptism and temptation of Jesus, and the beginning of His public ministry throughout Galilee and Judea.

Throughout the book, Jesus teaches about the kingdom of heaven through sermons, parables, miracles, and direct instruction. Matthew contains major teachings such as the Sermon on the Mount, lessons on faith, forgiveness, humility, judgment, and readiness for the coming kingdom. Jesus heals the sick, casts out demons, calms storms, feeds multitudes, raises the dead, and reveals His divine authority over creation, sin, and spiritual powers.

The book also highlights growing opposition from religious leaders who reject Jesus despite His works and teachings. As the story progresses, Jesus prepares His disciples for His suffering, death, and resurrection. Matthew records the betrayal, crucifixion, burial, and victorious resurrection of Jesus Christ, concluding with the Great Commission in which Jesus commands His followers to make disciples of all nations. The book emphasizes that Jesus is Immanuel—“God with us”—and the eternal King whose kingdom will endure forever.
