4 Say not in thy heart, when the Lord thy God (Elohim) shall have destroyed them in thy sight: For my justice hath the Lord brought me in to possess this land, whereas these nations are destroyed for their wickedness.

Do not say in your heart, "In the driving out of the Lord your God before you, I have brought them in because of my righteousness; the Lord has brought me in to inherit this land, and because of the wickedness of these nations the Lord is driving them out from before you."
