1 And David was old and full of days, and he made Solomon his son king over Israel. 2 And he gathered all the leaders of Israel and the priests and the Levites. 3 And the Levites were registered from thirty years old and upward, and their number for heads was thirty-eight thousand. 4 Of these, for the chief musician, for the work of the house of the Lord, were twenty-four thousand and officers and judges, six thousand. 5 And four thousand gatekeepers and four thousand praising the Lord with the instruments that I made for giving praise. 6 And David distributed divisions to the sons of Levi, to Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. 7 And Ger shun me for eternity, and Shimei. 8 The sons of Laadan are: Yihuiel, Zetam, and Yoel, three. 9 The sons of Shimei are Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran; these are the three heads of the fathers of Laadan. 10 And the sons of Shimei were Jahat, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah; these are the four sons of Shimei. 11 And there was a joint of the head and a shaking of the second, and they did not increase sons, and they became a house of a father for one appointment. 12 The sons of Kehath are Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uziel, four. 13 The sons of Amram are Aaron and Moses, and Aaron was separated to be holy of holies; he and his sons forever to burn incense before the Lord, to serve Him and to bless in His name forever. 14 And Moses, the man of God, was called by the tribe of Levi. 15 The sons of Moses are Gershom and Eliezer. 16 The sons of Gershom, Shebuel the chief. 17 And the sons of Eleazar were Rahabiah the chief, and Eleazar had no other sons, and the descendants of Rahabiah grew very strong. 18 The children of Yitzhar, Shlomit the head. 19 The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth. 20 The sons of Uziel: Micah the chief and Jishiah the second. 21 The sons of Merari are Mahli and Mushi; the sons of Mahli are Eleazar and Kish. 22 And Eleazar died, and he had no sons, only daughters, and the sons of Kish, their brothers, took them as wives. 23 The sons of Mushi are Machli, Eder, and Jeremoth, three. 24 These are the sons of Levi, according to the houses of their fathers, the heads of the fathers, by their numbered ones, by the number of names for the service of the work in the house of the Lord, from twenty years old and upward. 25 For David said, "The LORD God of Israel has settled for His people, and He will dwell in Jerusalem forever." 26 And also for the Levites, there is no lifting of the tabernacle and all its vessels for their service. 27 For in the words of David, the last ones, they are the counting of the sons of Levi from twenty years old and upward. 28 For the standing of the sons of Aaron to serve in the house of the LORD upon the courtyards and upon the chambers and upon the purification for all holiness and the work of the service of the house of God. 29 And for the bread of the arrangement, and for fine flour for a grain offering, and for the cakes of the unleavened bread, and for the frying pan, and for the mixing bowl, and for every measure and capacity. 30 To stand in the morning to give thanks and to praise the LORD, and likewise in the evening. 31 And for all the burnt offerings to the Lord for the Sabbaths, for the new moons, and for the appointed feasts, there shall be by number according to the ordinance upon them continually before the Lord. 32 And they shall keep the charge of the tent of meeting and the charge of the sanctuary and the charge of the sons of Aaron, their brothers, for the service of the house of the Lord.
