King James Version

2 Timothy • Chapter 2

1 You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the Grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And what you have heard from me through many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. 3 Suffer hardship as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No one serving as a soldier entangles himself in the affairs of life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him. 5 But if anyone competes, they are not crowned unless they compete according to the rules. 6 The hardworking farmer must be the first to partake of the crops. 7 Understand what I say; for the Lord will give you wisdom in all things. 8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my gospel. 9 In which I suffer hardship even to the point of imprisonment as a wrongdoer. But the word of God is not bound. 10 For this reason, I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 11 The saying is trustworthy: for if we have died together, we will also live together. 12 If we endure, we will also reign; if we deny, he will also deny us. 13 If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful; he cannot deny himself. 14 Remind them of these things, testifying before the Lord, not to quarrel about words, which is of no use, to the ruin of those who hear. 15 Make every effort to present yourself approved to God, a worker not ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. 16 Avoid the profane empty chatter; for they will progress more in ungodliness. 17 And their word will spread like gangrene; among whom are Hymenaeus and Philetus. 18 Those who have missed the mark regarding the truth, saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and they overturn the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless, the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: The Lord knows those who are his, and let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity. 20 In a large house, there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, and some are for honor and some for dishonor. 21 If anyone therefore cleanses himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the master, prepared for every good work. 22 Flee youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 23 But reject foolish and uneducated controversies, knowing that they produce quarrels. 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel, but must be gentle toward all, able to teach, patient. 25 In meekness instructing those who oppose themselves, perhaps God will grant them repentance to the knowledge of the truth. 26 And they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
