King James Version
Hosea • Chapter 8
1
To your mouth like a trumpet, as an eagle over the house of the LORD, because they have broken my covenant and transgressed my law.
2
To me they will cry out, "My God, we know You, Israel."
3
Israel has forsaken good; the enemy will pursue him.
4
They appointed a king, and I did not remove him; and I did not know that silver and gold they made for them idols in order that they might be cut off.
5
He has forsaken your calf, Samaria; my anger is kindled against them. How long will they be unable to remain innocent?
6
For he is a craftsman, and not a god; therefore there will be lamentation for the calves of Samaria.
7
For the wind will sow, and the whirlwind will cut off; there is no growth for him unless he makes flour; perhaps he will make foreign things devour.
8
Israel is swallowed up; now they will be among the nations like an empty vessel.
9
For they have gone up, Assyria, a wild donkey alone; Ephraim has hired lovers.
10
Even if they give in the nations, now I will gather them, and they will begin to be few from the burden of the king of princes.
11
For Ephraim has multiplied altars to sin; his altars have become a sin unto him.
12
I will write a letter to my master, the majority of my Torah, as a foreigner they are considered.
13
The sacrifices of the wicked are an abomination; they will offer flesh and eat it, but the LORD does not accept them; now He will remember their iniquity and will punish their sins; they are from Egypt, they will return.
14
And Israel forgot his Maker and built temples, and Judah multiplied cities in fortresses, and I will send fire upon his cities, and it will consume his palaces.
