Ezra • Chapter 6
1
Then Darius the king set a decree, and they made a search in the house of books that is in Babylon.
2
And you will find in the kingdom of Media a new scroll, and thus it is written in her record.
3
In the year of the reign of Cyrus king of Persia, Cyrus the king set forth a decree concerning the house of God in Jerusalem, saying: "Let the house be rebuilt, the place where sacrifices are offered, and let its foundations be firmly laid; its height shall be sixty cubits, and its width sixty cubits."
4
The stones of the third layer are of rolling stone, and the layer that is one is taken from the house of the king.
5
And also the vessels of the house of God, that Nebuchadnezzar brought from the temple that is in Jerusalem and placed in the house of his gods, they shall be brought back to the temple that is in Jerusalem, to its place, and shall be put in the house of God.
6
When you give a measure of the side of the river, you will not find any distance from there.
7
Stop serving in the house of God in the way of Judah, and let the elders of Judah build the house of God in its place.
8
And from me, you give a reason for what you shall serve, with the elders of Judah, to go to the house of God and from the possessions of the king, that according to the decree of the river I declared, it shall be given to you, for men, that it not be nullified.
9
And what is the whispering, and the sons of the turtle-doves, and the males, and they say to the exalted one, to God of heaven, give fine flour, salt, wine, and anoint as my priests say in Jerusalem to become a gift to them day by day that they do not cease.
10
For they shall bring sweet offerings to God in heaven, and pray for the life of the king and his son.
11
And from me, they will give a reason why every man who will change this saying will be cast out from his house, and a rod will flow against him, and in his house, they will be made to serve because of this.
12
And to the God who dwells in His name, every king and people that shall stretch forth their hand to harm the house of God, in Jerusalem, I, Darius, have set forth a decree that they shall be dealt with.
13
You shall give me a pot of silver for the reward of the work that the king Darius sent to me.
14
And the Judeans were instructed by the prophecy of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah son of Iddo, and his sons, and they succeeded in the matter of God of Israel and in the matter of Cyrus and Darius and Artaxerxes, king of Persia.
15
And it was in the house of the tenth until the third day of the month of Adar, which is in the year of the reign of Darius the king.
16
And the sons of Israel shall serve as priests and Levites and the rest of the sons of the exile, the dedication of the house of God shall be in joy.
17
And they brought forth for the dedication of the house of God, twelve torins of a hundred, and they said four hundred and rams for the sin offering for all Israel, twelve for the count of the tribes of Israel.
18
And my priests shall be established in their divisions, and the Levites in their sections concerning the work of God in Jerusalem, according to the written book of Moses.
19
And the sons of the exile made the Passover on the fourteenth of the first month.
20
For the priests and the Levites had purified themselves as one, all of them were pure, and they slaughtered the Passover for all the sons of the exile, and for their brothers the priests and for them.
21
And the sons of Israel who returned from exile ate, and all the separated ones from the impurity of the nations of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel.
22
And they made the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days with joy, because the joy of the Lord was upon them, and He turned the heart of the king of Assyria toward them to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.
