King James Version
Judges • Chapter 17
1
And there was a man from the hill country of Ephraim, and his name was Micah.
2
And he said to his mother, "A thousand and a hundred shekels of silver that were taken for you, and I have them, and you also said in my ears, 'Behold, the silver is with me, I took it.' And his mother said, 'Blessed be my son to the LORD.'"
3
And she put in a thousand and one hundred pieces of silver for her son, and his mother said, “I have dedicated the silver to the Lord from my hand to my son to make an image and a molten idol, and now I will return it to you.”
4
And he returned the money to his mother, and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver and gave them to the silversmith, and he made it into a graven image and a molten image, and it was in the house of Micah.
5
And the man Micah made a house of gods, and he made an ephod and household gods, and he filled the hand of one of his sons, and he became a priest for him.
6
In those days there was no king in Israel; each man did what was right in his own eyes.
7
And there was a youth from Bethlehem of Judah, of the family of Judah, and he was a Levite and he was dwelling there.
8
And the man went from the city of Bethlehem in Judah to dwell wherever he could find, and he came to the hill country of Ephraim to make his way.
9
And Micah said to him, "Where do you come from?" And he said to him, "I am a Levite from Bethlehem of Judah, and I am going to dwell wherever I find a place."
10
And Micah said to him, "Stay with me and be a father and a priest to me, and I will give you ten pieces of silver for each day and a change of garments and your sustenance." And the Levite went.
11
And Joel the Levite sat with the man, and the lad was to him like one of his sons.
12
And Micah filled the hand of the Levite, and he was to him a young man as a priest, and he was in the house of Micah.
13
And Micah said, "Now I know that the Lord will be good to me because I have a Levite as a priest."
