King James Version

Romans • Chapter 3

1 What then is the advantage of the Jew, or what is the benefit of circumcision? 2 Much in every way. First indeed, because they were entrusted with the words of God. 3 What then? If some have not believed, will their unbelief nullify the faithfulness of God? 4 Let it not be; but let God be true, and every man a liar, as it is written: That you may be justified in your words and prevail when you are judged. 5 If our unrighteousness establishes the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust who brings wrath? I speak according to man. 6 May it not be; for how will God judge the world? 7 But if the truth of God has abounded through my lie to his glory, why am I still judged as a sinner? 8 And let us not be slandered as some say, that we say, "Let us do evil that good may come"; for their judgment is just. 9 What then? Are we better off? Not at all, for we have charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin. 10 As it is written, "There is none righteous, not even one." 11 There is no understanding; there is no one seeking God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; there is none who does good, not even one. 13 Their throat is an opened grave; they deceive with their tongues; the poison of asps is under their lips. 14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. 15 Their feet are swift to shed blood. 16 crushing and distress in their paths, 17 And they have not known the way of peace. 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes. 19 But we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped and the whole world may become guilty before God. 20 For by works of the law no flesh will be justified in his sight, for through the law comes knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, being witnessed by the law and the prophets. 22 But the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ is for all who believe, for there is no distinction. 23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by his Grace through the Redemption that is in Christ Jesus; 25 Whom God proposed as a propitiation through faith in His blood for a demonstration of His righteousness because of the passing over of the previously committed sins. 26 In the forbearance of God, toward the demonstration of His righteousness in the present time, so that He might be just and justifying the one who has faith in Jesus. 27 Where then is the boasting? It has been excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 For we consider that a person is justified by faith apart from works of the law. 29 Is God of the Jews only? Is He not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also. 30 If indeed there is one God, who will justify the circumcision by faith and the uncircumcision through faith. 31 Therefore, do we nullify the law through faith? By no means! Rather, we establish the law.
