Matthew Chapter 19
Matthew chapter 19 records Jesus teaching about marriage, divorce, humility, and eternal life. When questioned by the Pharisees about divorce, Jesus points back to God’s original design for marriage as a lifelong union. He also welcomes little children, teaching that the kingdom of heaven belongs to those who receive it with childlike humility and faith.

A wealthy young man then asks Jesus what he must do to gain eternal life. Jesus challenges him to surrender his possessions and follow Him, but the man leaves sorrowfully because of his attachment to wealth. Jesus teaches His disciples about the difficulty riches can create in entering the kingdom of heaven, yet affirms that with God all things are possible. He promises reward and eternal life to those who sacrifice for His sake.
