Matthew chapter 27 recounts the suffering, crucifixion, death, and burial of Jesus Christ. Judas, overcome with remorse, returns the betrayal money and dies. Jesus is brought before Pilate, and despite finding no fault in Him, Pilate yields to the crowd’s demand for crucifixion. Jesus is mocked, beaten, and led away to Golgotha.

Jesus is crucified between criminals while onlookers mock Him. Darkness covers the land as Jesus suffers, and He finally gives up His spirit. The temple veil is torn, the earth quakes, and many recognize the significance of His death. Jesus is buried in a tomb belonging to Joseph of Arimathea, while guards are placed at the tomb to secure it.
