Matthew chapter 28 records the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Early on the first day of the week, women come to the tomb and find it empty after an angel rolls away the stone and announces that Jesus has risen. The guards are overcome with fear, and the women are instructed to tell the disciples that Jesus will meet them in Galilee.

Jesus appears to His followers, bringing comfort and assurance. Meanwhile, religious leaders attempt to spread false reports concerning the empty tomb. The chapter concludes with Jesus giving the Great Commission to His disciples, commanding them to make disciples of all nations, baptize them, and teach them to obey His commands. Jesus promises to remain with His followers always, even to the end of the age.
