Matthew Chapter 4
Matthew chapter 4 begins with Jesus being led into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, Jesus faces three temptations involving hunger, pride, and worldly power. Each time, Jesus resists by quoting Scripture, demonstrating obedience and faithfulness to God. After the temptations end, the devil leaves, and angels come to minister to Him.

Jesus then begins His public ministry in Galilee after hearing of John the Baptist’s imprisonment. He preaches repentance, declaring that the kingdom of heaven is near. Walking by the Sea of Galilee, Jesus calls Peter, Andrew, James, and John to follow Him, and they leave their work to become His disciples. Jesus travels throughout Galilee teaching in synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing many people afflicted with diseases, pain, and spiritual oppression. His fame spreads throughout the surrounding regions as large crowds begin following Him.
