King James Version
Job • Chapter 38
1
And the Lord answered Job out of the storm and said.
2
Who is this that darkens counsel with words without knowledge?
3
Gird yourself like a man, and I will ask you, and you will inform me.
4
Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth, if you have understanding?
5
Who has set the measurements, for you will know, or who has stretched the line over you?
6
On what were the foundations fastened, or who laid the corner stone?
7
In the morning, together the stars sang, and all the sons of God shouted for joy.
8
And he will cover with two doors, a sea, with his coming out from the womb.
9
In a cloud is his garment and a mist is his cloak.
10
And I will break my statutes against me, and I will put a lock and a door.
11
And I said, "Until here you shall come, and no more; and here your proud waves shall be stopped."
12
Your days commanded in the morning, you know, the dawn knows its place.
13
He will seize the wings of the earth and the wicked will be shaken from it.
14
It will be turned like clay in the hands of the potter, and it will stand like a garment.
15
And he will be prevented from the wicked, and a high arm will be broken.
16
Have you come to the depths of the sea, and have you walked in the recesses of the deep?
17
The gates of death have been revealed to you, and the gates of darkness you shall see.
18
Have you contemplated the vastness of the earth, the greatness, if you have understood it all?
19
Where is the path where light dwells, and where is the place of darkness?
20
When you take him to his border, and when you understand the paths of his house.
21
You know that then you will be born and the number of your days will be many.
22
"Have you entered the storehouses of snow, and have you seen the storehouses of hail?"
23
Which I have kept for a time of distress for a day of battle.
24
Where is the way that light is divided, east spread over the earth?
25
Who has divided the overflow of the flood and the way for the strong voices?
26
To rain on the earth, there was no man to work the ground.
27
To satisfy hunger and thirst and to cause to sprout the yield of grass.
28
Is there a rain father, or who has begotten the dewdrops?
29
Who has brought forth the frost from the womb, and who has given birth to the snow of heaven?
30
The water stone shall be hidden, and the faces of the deep shall be gathered.
31
You will connect delicacies like honey or like foolish pulls, you will open.
32
Will you bring forth offspring in its time and have compassion on your children?
33
Do you know the statutes of heaven, or can you establish its rule upon the earth?
34
Will you lift your voice to the cloud, that an abundance of waters may cover you?
35
You will send forth lightning and they will go and they will say to you, "Here we are."
36
Who has placed wisdom in the hidden places or who has given understanding to the heart?
37
Who can count the clouds with wisdom, and who can tilt the waters of heaven?
38
In the dust of the ground, the mire will be stuck.
39
Will you hunt the prey for the lion and fill the cubs of the young lions?
40
For they will dwell in tents, they will sit in the shelter for a night.
41
Who will prepare the prey for the raven, for its young ones cry out to God; they wander for lack of food.
