King James Version

John • Chapter 21

1 After these things, Jesus manifested himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias; and he did so in this way. 2 Simon Peter and Thomas called Didymus and Nathaniel from Cana of Galilee and the sons of Zebedee and two others of his disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter says to them, "I am going fishing." They say to him, "We are coming with you." They went out and got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. 4 But when it was already early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore; however, the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 Jesus then said to them, "Children, do you have anything to eat?" They answered him, "No." 6 But he said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find." So they cast it, and they were no longer able to draw it in because of the multitude of the fish. 7 Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord." When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he was naked) and threw himself into the sea. 8 But the other disciples came in the small boat, for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits away, dragging the net of fish. 9 And when they had come down to the land, they saw a coal lying there and fish laid on it and bread. 10 Jesus says to them, "Bring from the fish that you have now caught." 11 Then Simon Peter went up and dragged the net onto the land, full of large fish, one hundred fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, "Come and eat." No one of the disciples dared to ask him, "Who are you?" knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus comes and takes the bread and gives it to them, and the fish likewise. 14 This is already the third time Jesus was revealed to the disciples, having risen from the dead. 15 When they had breakfasted, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs." 16 He says to him again the second time, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" He says to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He says to him, "Feed my sheep." 17 He said to him the third time, "Simon of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved that he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep." 18 Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and take you where you do not want. 19 This he said signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he said to him, "Follow me." 20 Turning around, Peter saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, who also had leaned back on his breast at the supper and said, “Lord, who is the one betraying you?” 21 Seeing him, Peter says to Jesus, "Lord, what about this man?" 22 Jesus said to him, "If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me." 23 Therefore, this saying went out among the brothers that that disciple does not die. Jesus did not say to him that he does not die, but, "If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you?" 24 This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true. 25 There are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I think that the world itself would not be able to contain the written books.
