King James Version
John • Chapter 8
1
Yashua (Jesus) went unto the mount of Olives.
2
And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3
And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4
They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5
Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6
This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Yashua (Jesus) stooped down, and with
his finger wrote on the ground,
as though he heard them not.
7
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them,
He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8
And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9
And they which heard
it, being convicted by
their own
conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest,
even
unto the last: and Yashua (Jesus) was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10
When Yashua (Jesus) had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her,
Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11
She said, No man, Lord. And Yashua (Jesus) said unto her,
Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
12
Again, Jesus spoke to them, saying: "I am the light of the world; whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
13
The Pharisees said to him, "You bear witness about yourself; your testimony is not true."
14
Jesus answered and said to them, "Even if I bear witness about myself, my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from or where I am going."
15
You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one.
16
And if I judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I and the one who sent me, the Father.
17
And it is written in your law that the testimony of two men is true.
18
I am the one who bears witness about myself, and the one who sent me, the Father, bears witness about me.
19
They said to him, "Where is your father?" Jesus answered, "You do not know me or my father; if you knew me, you would know my father also."
20
These words he spoke in the treasury, teaching in the temple; and no one seized him because his hour had not yet come.
21
He said therefore again to them: I go away, and you will seek me, and in your sin you will die; where I go you cannot come.
22
Therefore, the Jews were saying, "Will he kill himself since he says, 'Where I am going, you cannot come'?"
23
And he said to them, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world."
24
I therefore said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am, you will die in your sins.
25
They were saying to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "I am speaking to you of what I have said from the beginning."
26
I have many things to say and to judge about you; but he who sent me is true, and I speak to the world those things which I heard from him.
27
They did not know that he was speaking of their father.
28
Then Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am, and I do nothing of myself, but as the Father taught me, I speak these things."
29
And the one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, because I always do the things that are pleasing to him.
30
While he was saying these things, many believed in him.
31
Jesus then said to the Jews who had believed in him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples."
32
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
33
They answered Him, "We are the seed of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How do You say, 'You will become free'?"
34
Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly I say to you, that everyone who practices sin is a slave of sin."
35
The servant does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever.
36
So if the Son sets you free, you will be truly free.
37
I know that you are Abraham's descendants; but you seek to kill me because my word does not fit in you.
38
What I have seen beside the Father, I speak; and you therefore, what you have heard from the Father, do.
39
They answered and said to him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you are children of Abraham, do the works of Abraham."
40
But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God; this Abraham did not do.
41
You do the works of your father. They said to him, "We were not born of fornication; we have one Father, God."
42
Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came forth from God and have come; nor have I come of myself, but he sent me."
43
Why do you not understand my speech? Because you are not able to hear my word.
44
You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and he did not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.
45
But I, because I speak the truth, do not believe you me.
46
Who among you convicts me concerning sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?
47
He who is from God hears the words of God; therefore you do not hear, because you are not from God.
48
The Jews answered and said to him, "We are not speaking well when we say that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?"
49
Jesus answered, "I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me."
50
But I do not seek my own glory; there is one who seeks and judges.
51
Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death forever.
52
The Jews said to him, "Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and you say, 'If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death forever.'"
53
Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died; whom do you make yourself out to be?
54
Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing; it is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is our God."
55
And you do not know him, but I know him; and if I say that I do not know him, I will be like you, a liar; but I know him and I keep his word.
56
Abraham your father rejoiced that he might see my day, and he saw it and was glad.
57
The Jews said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?"
58
Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am."
59
Therefore, they picked up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid and went out of the temple.
