King James Version

1 Kings • Chapter 10

1 And the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, and she came to test him with riddles. 2 And she came to Jerusalem with a very great army, camels carrying spices and much gold and precious stones. And she came to Solomon and spoke to him all that was in her heart. 3 And Solomon told her all her words; there was not a matter hidden from the king that he did not declare to her. 4 And the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon and the house that he had built. 5 And the food of his table and the dwelling of his servants and the standing of his ministers and their garments and their drinks and his burnt offering which he will bring to the house of the Lord, and there will no longer be a spirit. 6 And she said to the king, "True was the report that I heard in my land concerning your words and concerning your wisdom." 7 And I did not believe the words until I came and my eyes saw, and behold, it was not told to me; you have added wisdom and goodness to the report that I heard. 8 Blessed are the men, blessed are your servants, who stand before you always, hearing your wisdom. 9 May the LORD your God be blessed, who has desired you to set you on the throne of Israel. In the love of the LORD for Israel forever, He has made you king to do justice and righteousness. 10 And she gave to the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold and very much spices and precious stones; there never came again such an abundance of spices as those that the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon. 11 And I, Hiram, who brought gold from Ophir, brought from Ophir much almug wood and precious stone. 12 And the king made the almug trees for the house of the LORD and for the house of the king, and harps and lyres for the singers; such almug trees did not come, nor have they been seen to this day. 13 And King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire that she asked, besides what he gave her according to the hand of King Solomon. And she turned and went to her land, she and her servants. 14 And the weight of the gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred sixty-six talents of gold. 15 Except for the men of the lute and the merchants, and all the kings of the evening and the rulers of the earth. 16 And King Solomon made two hundred shields of pure gold; he used six hundred shekels of gold for each shield. 17 And three hundred shields of gold, pure gold, will be placed on the shield of one, and the king will give them to the house of the forest of Lebanon. 18 And the king made a great throne and covered it with pure gold. 19 Six steps to the throne, and the top of the throne is round from behind, and the hands are from this side and from that side to the place of the Sabbath, and two lions stand beside the hands. 20 And twelve lions stood there on the six steps, one on this side and one on that side; thus it was not done for all the kingdoms. 21 And all the drinking vessels of King Solomon were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; silver was not considered valuable in the days of Solomon. 22 For I, Tarshish, will be with the king at sea; with me, Hiram, once every three years, Tarshish will come, bringing gold and silver, ivory and apes and baboons. 23 And King Solomon was greater than all the kings of the earth in wealth and in wisdom. 24 And all the earth sought the face of Solomon to hear the wisdom that God had given in his heart. 25 And they bring a man an offering of silver and vessels of gold and garments and weapons and perfumes, horses and mules, year by year. 26 And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen, and he had one thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, and he stationed them in the cities of the chariots and with the king in Jerusalem. 27 And the king gave the silver in Jerusalem like stones, and the cedars he gave like the sycamores that are in the lowland in abundance. 28 And the horses that were for Solomon were brought from Egypt, and the king's merchants took them from Kue at a price. 29 And a chariot will go up and come out from Egypt with six hundred silver and a horse of fifty and one hundred; and likewise for all the kings of the Hittites and for the kings of Aram by their hand they will go out.
