King James Version

1 Kings • Chapter 7

1 And Solomon built his house in thirteen years and completed all his house. 2 And he built the house of the cedars of Lebanon; its length was one hundred cubits, and its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits, upon four rows of cedar pillars and with cedar beams upon the pillars. 3 And he shall cover with cedar above on the beams which are on the forty and five fifteen the tier. 4 And there were three rows of engravings and a design with a design three times. 5 And all the doorways and the doorposts are square, and opposite the vision is a vision three times. 6 And he made the porch of the pillars fifty cubits long and thirty cubits wide, and the porch in front of them, and the pillars and thickness in front of them. 7 But the throne that judges there is indeed the judgment made and is covered with cedar from the ground to the ground. 8 And the house that is there, there was a courtyard, the other from the house of the hall, like this was the deed, and a house he will make for the daughter of Pharaoh whom Solomon took, like this hall. 9 All these precious stones, like the measurements of hewn stone, are scraped in the scraper, from the house and from outside, and from the foundation to the thickness and from outside to the great courtyard. 10 And precious stones shall be established, great stones, stones of ten cubits and stones of eight cubits. 11 And from above, precious stones like dimensions of hewn stone and cedar. 12 And the great courtyard was surrounded by three rows of hewn stone and a row of cedar beams for the inner courtyard of the house of the Lord and for the vestibule of the house. 13 And King Solomon sent and took Hiram from Tyre. 14 The son of a widow from the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a craftsman in bronze, and he was filled with wisdom, understanding, and knowledge to do all work in bronze; and he came to King Solomon and performed all his work. 15 And he formed two pillars of bronze, eighteen cubits the height of one pillar, and a thread of twelve cubits encircled the second pillar. 16 And he made two capitals to set on the tops of the pillars, of molten bronze, five cubits was the height of the one capital and five cubits the height of the other capital. 17 Networks of work, networks of great works, made for the capitals that are on the tops of the columns, seven for one capital and seven for the second capital. 18 And he made the pillars and two rows around the network on the one to cover the crowns that were on the tops of the pomegranates, and so he did for the second crown. 19 And the crowns that are on the tops of the pillars, the work of lily, are four cubits. 20 And on the two pillars were also above, opposite the belly which is by the lattice, and the pomegranates were two hundred in rows around upon the second capital. 21 And he set up the pillars for the temple; and he set up the right pillar and called its name Jakin; and he set up the left pillar and called its name Boaz. 22 And upon the head of the pillars was the work of lilies, and the work of the pillars was completed. 23 And he made the sea cast metal, ten cubits from edge to edge, circular all around and five cubits in height, and a line of thirty cubits encircled it all around. 24 And from under his lip, around him, there are clusters of gold, encircling the sea; two rows of gold clusters are poured in his casting. 25 Standing on twelve cattle, three faces to the north and three faces to the west and three faces to the south and three faces to the east, and the sea is above them, and all their backs are toward the house. 26 And its thickness will be a handbreadth, and its lip like the work of the lip of a bowl, a flower of a rose, two thousand at the daughter of Yachil. 27 And he made the ten bronze bases; four cubits was the length of one base, and four cubits its width, and three cubits was its height. 28 And this is the work of the mechanism, frames to them and frames between the steps. 29 And upon the frameworks that were between the steps, lions and oxen and cherubs; and upon the steps, so also above and beneath the lions and the oxen, artistic work. 30 And four bronze wheels for one cart and bronze axles, and four supports for them under the basin, the supports shall be cast from the side of each one. 31 And the mouth of it from the house of the cherub and above by an amah, and the mouth of it was rounded, the work was thus an amah and half the amah, and also upon the mouths of its nets and its frames they were squared, not rounded. 32 And the four wheels under the framework and the axles of the wheels in the machine, and the height of each wheel was one and a half cubits. 33 And the work of the wheels is like the work of the wheel of the chariot—their hands and their backs and their rims and their spokes—all are made of cast metal. 34 And four shoulders to the four corners of the one vehicle, from the vehicle its shoulders. 35 And at the top of the machine, half a cubit is the height, round about, and on the top of the machine are its hands and its frames from it. 36 And he opened upon the tablets his hands, and upon its frames, its frames were cherubs, lions, and palm trees, like the appearance of a man, and lions all around. 37 This is what was done: ten bases, cast as one piece, of one measure, of one pattern, for all of them. 38 And he made ten bronze basins; each basin could hold forty baths. Each basin was four cubits in size; there was one basin for each of the ten stands. 39 And he put five on the shoulder of the house on the right and five on the shoulder of the house on the left, and he placed the sea at the shoulder of the house at the right eastward, opposite south. 40 And Hiram made the basins and the pillars and the vessels; and Hiram finished all the work that he did for King Solomon in the house of the Lord. 41 Two pillars and the capitals that are on the tops of the two pillars, and the network to cover the two capitals that are on the tops of the pillars. 42 And four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, two rows of pomegranates for one network, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that are on the tops of the pillars. 43 And the ten carts, and the ten basins upon the carts. 44 And the one sea and twelve cattle under the sea. 45 And the pots and the basins and the spoons, and all the vessels of these things that Huram made for King Solomon in the house of the Lord were of burnished bronze. 46 In the plain of the Jordan, the king was poured out in the lowlands between Succoth and between Zartan. 47 And Solomon placed all the utensils, from an exceedingly great abundance; their weight of the bronze was not ascertained. 48 And Solomon made all the vessels that were in the house of the Lord, the altar of gold and the table on which was the bread of the Presence, of gold. 49 And the menorahs, five on the right and five on the left, in front of the debir, of pure gold, and the flowers and the lamps and the tongs, of gold. 50 And the spoons and the lidders and the basins and the bowls and the firepans of pure gold, and the hinges for the doors of the inner house for the Holy of Holies, for the doors of the house for the temple of gold. 51 And Solomon completed all the work that the king Solomon had done for the house of the Lord, and Solomon brought in the sacred objects of David his father, the silver and the gold and the utensils, and he placed them in the treasuries of the house of the Lord.
